Pennington going to Leeds.
Leaves Keane, Jags, Williams & Holgate then?
RFM long-term injured?

He seems to acquit himself well everywhere he plays tooI actually think Connolly will make it with Everton, not because he's going to be a future star, but because he's versatile, and he can be exactly the kind of squad player every team needs.
I didn't say he never praised him, just that he seemed to praise others more imo. From last Unsworth last October: “I think he was outstanding, I thought he was the best player on the pitch. He ran the game and he was all action. Liam is certainly going in the right direction towards our first team.”
Indeed. While his versatility of being able to play in all four back positions as well as midfield make him an excellent future squad member , the qualities he has that enable this apply when playing in an individual position. He's still only 19 and Kenny's current superior attacking play has overshone Connolly's ability in this respect, and he really didn't look the same attacking player he has been when playing for England U20s in the WC. What he has that RK likes is an engine and a willingness to get up and down the pitch for a full 90 mins if needed. He also possesses something that none of our other young defenders have , an ability to score goals on a regular basis. When he goes into the opposing box he just seems able to find space for himself, if the ball arrives he is then usually in a position to shoot or head for goal - his two headed goals on his debut for Wigan at the start of the year were good examples of this.I actually think Connolly will make it with Everton, not because he's going to be a future star, but because he's versatile, and he can be exactly the kind of squad player every team needs.

He's not the quickest of full backs , can sometimes be easily shoved off a ball but is still learning and developing. The Martina move made me frown a bit because of the potential impact on Kenny's development but ironically it may help Connolly in that if Williams, Keane and Martina are in the side there is more chance of him standing in for Baines than if we had two young full backs.

Kenny cant be worse than Martina, I hope hes just 3rd choice cover and Koeman has something else in mind for Holgate.
As for the left side, do you think we will sign someone to rotate with Baines or do you feel Connolly could be in line for a squad place this season?
Prepare to fume!I was fuming, but I've come to think he is just cover and making up the numbers. Kenny and Holgate really aren't enough at RB over the course of potentially a whole season (who knows when Seamus will be fit, and what if one of the two lads goes down?).
That's what I'm telling myself. If he starts, I will fume though.
Definitely something going on behind the scenes especially if rumours are true that sheeds was pushed outSo we've lost:
Peter Vint - Head of Academy
Dave Adams - Head of Coaching (lasted about a week after an apparently extensive recruitment process)
Kevin Sheedy - U18 Coach
I presume this big overhaul will involve these positions being replaced.
Pushed out?! surely not?Definitely something going on behind the scenes especially if rumours are true that sheeds was pushed out
Just rumours in the Kevin speedy thread does seem very surprising but we have heard nothing official from the club .but the poster did say before news broke what he had heardPushed out?! surely not?
