Everton Youth Teams Thread

Where do we see the following players making an impact in the first team squad this season?

Connolly
Kenny
Walsh
Dowell
Lookman
Calvert-Lewin
Connolly: maybe a loan again. Possibly back up at both fullbacks.
Kenny: rotation RB until Seamus is healthy
Walsh: Loan or u23
Dowell: Hopefully in the attacking rotation
Lookman: He will get time both starting and from the bench
DCL: Depends on who else comes in up top how sandro does etc. but he will get time

I will be surprised if Kenny gets a start before Christmas, I think Koeman will go with Martina, hopefully I am wrong.
Nailed on. Should be given a chance, we've also got Holgate who can do a job there as well. Martina - type of signing who makes you wish we'd already had Brexit!

Walsh needs to be playing proper football IMHO. If not with us then he should go out on loan. He's done all he can at U23 level.

I agree but getting him on loan will be made tougher by his recent injury. That would be best for him to do though. His time with us would be inconsistent

Couldn't see that there is a Kenny thread, so popping this in here.

Everton: Jonjoe Kenny
The current absence of a squad number plus the arrival of Cuco Martina on a free transfer do not bode well for the 20-year-old at Everton but there is no question he has the ability and opportunity to push himself into Ronald Koeman’s plans this season. The right-back was an influential and impressive figure throughout England’s triumphant Under-20 World Cup campaign and, with Séamus Coleman recovering from a double leg fracture, the academy graduate merits the chance to rival Mason Holgate and Martina for a regular role. For all those above and one or two more the Europa League, should we progress well, will be their chance to shine.

Harry Kane was not in the League side at the time he began to really take games by the scruff of the neck, scoring some very impressive goals in European games. He played so well that he could no longer be ignored and he has developed into one of the best around.

I expect at least one of those above to forge a similar pathway. Just have to make sure we do a professional job in the qualifiers and not take them too lightly.

honestly think some people were reading too much into that, he does have a squad number.
fully expect him to start the EL qualifiers and hopefully impress enough get the starting spot for stoke.

He will never ever be ahead of him in football terms, Walsh is twice the player.

I don't know why he seems to be overlooked
Size?
Injury?
Not one of unsworth's favourite's?
Seems to praise Williams at every opportunity, not so much Walsh.
I'm sure unsworth has a big influence on players moving up.

Rumours of bust up with ledson, then he's out the door.

Will be a big mistake imo if the club let Walsh go,

From last Unsworth last October: “I think he was outstanding, I thought he was the best player on the pitch. He ran the game and he was all action. Liam is certainly going in the right direction towards our first team.”

its true, theres pictures of him at leeds training ground. good move as you say, hope it leads to a perm move for him.

Everyone, including myself, needs to keep in mind that smaller transfers for younger players can add up financially. I would wager just about every one of the lads that featured for the U23s last year will end up playing professionally for a while, most with other clubs.

While it may not impact the bottom line of the club as a whole dramatically, those funds can absolutely fund the Academy on an ongoing basis and make it self-sustaining.
