Everton Youth Teams Thread

Either way I'd like us to show the same faith in unsworth they did in zidane
Unsy finding the right route is a difficult one. Warren Joyce was highly thought of at Man U, winning the previous two u21 leagues to us, but he was never as far as I remember even in the frame for even temporary roles with the first team. Then he went to Wigan last October , a club already in trouble and not surprisingly failed to turn them around and was sacked. I'm sure Unsy is eyed in the same light by ambitious Championship clubs if not PL clubs, and it may be the route he has to take , achieving success elsewhere before " coming home" but finding the right club won't be easy .
I'm with you on this , I'd love to see Unsy being developed as a future first team coach. A year or so ago I commented somewhere that his strengths were mainly in defensive organisation and less so in developing attacking teams and scoring goals. Last season our U23s played much more attractive attacking football , scoring more goals even without having one individual scoring at a spectacular rate, Oumar apart of course. Another good season with the U23s will cement his future with us.

I find it strange how Walsh can't seem to get a looking with the 1st team squad. The best player last season at under 23 imo.
Is it because he's considered a year below dowell & Williams?

There was rumour, think it might have been from someone on here, can't remember who, that he was having a trial at Villa ahead of a potential loan move.

He was in the same intake as Dowell, Davies and Connolly and has had some loan experience unlike Dowell so it would not seem they regard him as a year below. I've got the impression in my mind from various pictures that he was being tested as someone coming back from injury , so perhaps he's not quite fully fit yet, nothing to back that up except he wasn't in the recent U23s playing squad.

I suspect he's still recovering from the injury that stopped him going to U20's tournament.

I don't think unsworth will be considered for the role after koeman leaves (I think koeman will extend his stay here unless Barcelona come calling)

He has the most support financially to do what ever he feels is needed here, and isn't being set any limitations, so there's no need for him to leave.

After he leaves moshiri will want another big name and proven manager. He is all about raising the profile of the club and again he will want a high profile manager. That's just how its going to be.

I love unsy, but I think he is amazing in the role he is doing now and I don't think it would make any sense to change that, if he's happy to stay in that role, keep him there.

I am interested to see if we bring someone in for the under 18s manager role shortly. And who it is.

I think the decision is easier if he's had success somewhere else as the boss. However if they offer the job of running the whole academy he'd be crazy not to take that and jib off coaching.

As it stands , I believe we have two current vacancies Academy Director to replace Dr Peter Vint and u18 manager if Sheedy really has left. Unsy's role as U23s manager is outside the Academy structure , so the "Academy Manager" role as it currently stands wouldn't be that appealing, though it enabled Alan Irvine to move into management after he had the role.
It seems that something is going on within the whole structure, with changes afoot and Unsy has been given more power , if that's the right word , with specific scouts and what looks like more money to spend on recruits. Its hard to see him being given the whole lot to look after , U23s and Academy though. I'm still hoping Lee Carsely will get a role in the Academy/u18 he fits the bill perfectly of an intelligent ex player who knows what the club is all about.

Agree with that, but what about internal candidates like Jeffers, Tait, or Doolan? Any of them in the frame you think?
