Everton Youth Teams Thread

Every interview I've ever read from him he comes across as someone mature and who knows just how hard and much he needs to work on improving mate, this seasons his big chance with Coleman's injury to make himself integral . He's given the chance he will take it I'm certain

..you never really know until they step up but I agree that he won't be found wanting. I think the fans will take to him as well.

He's faster and naturally better defensively mate, but large parts of his game remind me of him, Baines had a great footballing brain and awareness of everything around him though which hopefully Kenny has similar.

Genuinely excites me Kenny, so nonchalant how he pings the ball all over the gaff. Hope we get to see quite a bit of him this season.

...Baines is a genius with a football at his feet. RK says he's the best he's seen when they do possession sessions in training and I can genuinely believe that. I get the similarity with Kenny but it would be something if he ever reaches that standard of passing ability.

I'm just hoping and praying that the form of JJ in this tournament has made our search for a new right full back a worthless one. JJ with the energy he possesses reminds me of a young Seamus Coleman. The crowd would get right behind the lad at goodison and his form for the under 23s and this tournament would suggest he is a viable alternative to Coleman.
It is reason we are looking at the ex soto player...perfect sense on a free, experience and will not chuck his toys being second on occasions to JJ

Some fans cannot see this and we will have Seamus back mid way

I watched first half live, just watched 2nd half which in a knock out competition was the best 2nd half by an England team for many years, though I'm not English so what do I know. Loved that cameo from Lookman when he got the ball with three Italians around him, skipped away , nutmeged a fourth , skipped past the 5th and passed the ball. All to often , particularly at younger ages, these skilful players don't know when to give the ball up , he'll push Kenny and Tomori for player of the tournament I think.
I thought DCL had a much better 2nd half, one threaded through ball by Dowell to Solanke was outstanding , but didn't do enough to avoid being substituted.
At the start of the season Armstrong, Solanke, and the missing two of Patrick Roberts and Izzy Brown seemed to have the four attacking positions at u20'level sewn up, so incredible to think we had three attacking players starting today, they've all progressed really well. On holiday Sunday so will miss the game , good luck to all our guys and England.

..sounds a bit like '86 World Cup when Robson and Wilkins were replaced by Reid and Hoddle because of injury/suspension. Suddenly England found a formula that worked.

Best thing is... he was/is a red! If he carries on, they'll have missed out big time and we'll be reaping the rewards.

Carry on Jonjoe ;)
