Everton Youth Teams Thread

As I said mate, has all the talent in the world. But as they say, 90% is above the shoulders.
It's up to him. How great would it be to get 2 or 3,or 4 even, from this batch into regulars for the senior team?

Well we have Davies, DCL and Holgate already. Kenny looks a shoe-in to at least be second choice start of the season. Dowell and Walsh probably closest after that. Connolly who knows?

Then in the future Feeney & Baningime for me. That's a lot compared to the norm in academy promotions.

Don't write off Anthony Evans either mate. I believe he's had a bit of a growth spurt this year (must be about 7ft now if true:)) and that tends to have a short term effect on their development. But he's a very clever player and cool in front of goal. Still got high hopes for him.

The other one I really fancy is Antonee Robinson. Had a worrying time with injuries over the last couple of years but if he can come through those he's got the making of a very good attacking full back.

Yeh I still rate Evans and Robinson as well as Foulds but thing they're a bit further away than the others. Joe Williams too I forgot about.

He has a very languid style about him mate so gives the impression of being lazy. But he does tend to put a decent shift in in fairness to him. He tends to switch off at times as Eggs pointed out and, his biggest worry for me, is that he drifts in and out of games. When he has the ball he can do some wonderful things with it, but doesn't appear able to dominate games, even at his own age level. His ability can make him a match winner though, which is something we lack in certain games when teams park the bus.

He will never be the all action player that Koeman seems to prefer, so my worry is that we'll let him go within the next 24 months. It'll be a shame, if he then goes elsewhere to a club that accommodate his ability within the team set up, and becomes a star. It's not a totally inconceivable outcome given that his ability is so evident, even on a world level at the Under 20s.

Not seen enough of Foulds mate. I know there was a lot of news at the time of his transfer but he's found it hard to hold down a spot in the U23s despite being older than Feeney, and at full back he's been behind both Connolly and Robinson. He's never been recognised at International level, and whilst this doesn't always tell the full picture (Walsh for example) it's usually a good indicator of ability.

I've always considered Williams a bit of a journeyman/odd carrier type player. He does have ability and a great attitude and I can see him having a career in the Premier (which is no mean feat as you know), but not with a club with aspirations for top 4. Hope he proves me wrong.

Maybe having him as a 10, with midfielders behind him who can get the ball to him. might enable him to get more involved. From what I've seen of him at the WC he seems very dangerous on the ball in the last 3rd. Someone like him would've complemented Lukaku more than someone like Barkley.

@Sainsbur McManus best username I've seen on GOT. Well done.

England play Scotland in the semi finals of the Toulon tournament tomorrow. Scotland qualified as best second placed team having beaten Brazil the other day. Ivory Coast and Czech republic in the other semi.

Slipping under the radar was Nathan Broadhead who played all three games at 10 for Wales in Toulon . They didn't lose a game but were eliminated cos of two draws. I like Broadhead for his skills and scoring ability but it's difficult to see him getting ahead of Lookman, Dowell and Evans as an attacking mid, and maybe heading the same way as Conor Grant , showing good promise and great goals but just not enough to stand out as a potential PL player.
