Everton Youth Teams Thread

View attachment 297263

Stumbled across this this morning. Hopefully something the club knows that we don’t, but it seems like letting Levi Kendrick go elsewhere when he was a U17 international as an underage player would be a considerable loss. Dawid Gawel (FW) and Harley Windsor (DF) we’re both also in the Everton U16 group as well, but I can’t really speak to their quality.
The fact he's been released and has ended up at Bolton, a League One club, would suggest they don't expect him to make it at the higher levels.

Yeah didn’t really expect Kendrick to be a world beater or anything, but I figured playing up a level or two in intl comp would at least be worth a punt on a scholarship. Agree that Pita should be a shoe in as well.

Speaking of Right backs, should we assume Lambert has had some sort of devastating injury? Last time we saw him was end of October I think
Yeah shame that Lambert has disappeared into the FF injury news black hole. Hopefully he’s back soon as he looks promising.

Will be interesting to see where they host the final, this season, should Everton make the final.

In recent seasons, the final has been at Widnes, then Marine due to Demand.

What was the attendance last night? Can't imagine it was very big at all?

Interesting article about one of our academy coaches. Bit of a puff piece but it's interesting perspective I think and maybe context too.

Actually made me think about this a bit:
so the u18s are seemingly stuck with Southern permanently (n)
Southern could be highly rated within the building as an up and coming coach, presumably he is. He's been an under 18s assistant, and under 21s assistant and now has progressed to under 18s head coach (interim at least). He's not the flashiest name, he's certainly not Leighton Baines but he's been with us for a while now and is getting his opportunity. At the very least he's a coach on the way up and is motivated to take on the role. Who's to say he doesn't become an excellent coach at this level?

he could well be but its what he's shown since taking over from Baines that people have an issue with. losing that game to Plymouth and the tactics employed was a big negative

You might be right but it's still early days for him. Baines had 2.5 years in this role, 1.5 pretty good years and 1 bad one.

Baines went out of the youth cup to Watford a couple of years back.

The other thing to consider is how much control he actually has. We've been told a few times now that they have a sort of syllabus that they coach to that includes, 433, 343 and 442 I think. Are our coaches empowered to go against that? Especially in one of his first games in charge.

Just adding perspective really. I'm not some Southern acolyte btw, I have the same concerns as you. But I do think there has to be a place within the club for promoting promising coaches from within. It's good inspiration for coaches further down the ladder and even for the players who are thinking about going into coaching.

Not a lot - Everton doing their typically North Korean style let's not inform the fans approach.
