It's an underdog mentality we can't shake.

Martinez is gone now mate. Not on the back of today, which all in all wasn't too bad performance-wise, but on the back of everything.

Think a loss/draw against Bournemouth last week and he'll be out (it may even happen before that). If not I think he's gone at the end of the season.

Pellegrini seems likely. Think it could happen.
i'd be made up with pellegrini, not quite sure he's in the game for it though, I hope he is. If he gets the nod on cash available to spend and a sizable wedge for him then fingers crossed.

It was a decent save, but Lukaku's run up and body shape told De Gea where he was putting it, so made the save easier.

The thing with Baines was keepers didn't have a clue where he was putting the ball.

to be fair, the two pennos Baines took were gash.

De Gea saved from him at OT.

He scored one at Sunderland a few weeks later but it was a really poor penalty and the keeper let it squirm under him when he should have saved comfortably.

That said, I would much rather have Baines on penno duty than Rom.

Even when he scores from the spot, he never looks convincing to me.

Mate of mine who is a city supporters can't wait for pellegrini to go. I want an out and out bellend manager who upsets everyone but is a winner

The penalty taking now seems to be like the defensive marking.....its up to whoever that picks the ball up at any particular time. Kamikaze.... when you already have a longstanding successful dead ball kicker on the pitch and, moreover, defenders who use their talent effectively - once they know what theyre supposed to do.

Everton never make it easy, do they?

At half time we are all resigned to ignominy.......Anfield part two was about to unfold in the second half.

Then we miss the penno and what used to be the real Everton show up at last.

My own view is that the players just unfettered themselves and chucked Bobby's philosophyball out the window.

Suddenly we have hope......then we are back level.....and we batter them for ten minutes and it looks like there is only one team going to win it.....EFC.

But this time the attack lets us down.....three or four gilt edged chances squandered.

And just when you are settling down for extra time and the chance to pull off what looked an unlikely victory an hour before....Martinez era Everton re-asserts and a mistake leads to an injury time goal.

:(

Yes for the simple reason as much as I wanted us the win the cup if we had, we would be stuck with this clueless manager for another season,do you want that?. I'm trying to look at the bigger picture, I've been supporting Everton since 1988, I want us to be constantly good (which has never really happened in all them years) and with Martinez that will never happen, we have got money now the good times aren't far way with the right manger in charge.
Most reports had martinez being gone at the end of the season regardless. A cup win would've also put us in europe next year which would be useful to an incoming manager. Cant fathom anything being better than a cup win besides winning the league or a European competition like EL or Cl

Is so funny how some fans can't see it, that winning the cup means we are stuck with Martinez and it's him holding us back, for one day of glory another season of the same old dross served up. If you can take that for another season you must love pain.

Winning the FA Cup is great, but it's often said that winning it in 95 was the worst thing in the long run. Other than the purchase of Andrei, there were no foundations laid for the future. Our dogs of war grew old and constantly injured - especially Parky, our Gravesen prototype, and the rest is history, with the likes of Carl Tiler and Alex Nyarko following.

Let me get one thing straight, I had my head in my hands when Utd won it, gutted isn't the word - but we'll probably have a brighter future in the long run with a competent, winning manager. How Moshiri's investment is used will be the difference between progress and relegation next season and I don't trust anyone who spunks 13.5 mil on a player that is obviously not up to it.

Martinez is gone. I am perversely happy.
