Horrific performance. Toxic atmosphere.

SAM OUT

In my view the atmosphere will be toxic regardless of Allardyce. Granted he is adding to it. But the fans' expectations are wildly overshooting. It's been an issue since the 90's but it's been made worse by the arrival of Moshiri sending them even higher.

and fans expect him to have us playing like barca!

As an outside viewer and without the potential bias or hate towards some players I'd like to give my opinion on what I saw and think was better for the team.

People can slate Rooney all they want but the game changed a little when he came in favour of Everton. Your team were dying for someone to spread play from deep or link the mid to the attack and defence. He offered that and tried to get the ball forward. The best came from his link up with Siggy and Walcott. He was always looking to find one of them and this helped force the issue to get a goal. Was it him who got the pre assist for the goal? Rooney may be slower but he's still got the ability.

The biggest issue that I currently see with Everton (from this game) is that the midfield has no ball carrier or play maker. Need to link the midfield to the attack and defence better. The other issue is your defence. That Kenny kid doesn't look bad but he's very raw and rash. There were a number of times he just dived in and went for it when he should have backed off and tracked the runner or went with his man. You need a more experienced RB there I'm guessing Coleman is still alright.

Your LB wasn't bad but he wasn't good either if that makes sense. I thin CB is a big issue. I'm not sure if it's the actual CB's per se or the way they're playing. They didn't seem bad but the biggest issue for me was that Williams in particular was getting dragged out too far trying to get close to Rondon. This allowed space to open up and someone to run into it a la the first goal. If your CB goes tight to a man then the role of the DM is to cover for him.

I actually think your attack is ok but midfield ideally a box to box or mobile DM is needed. A CB and a LB.

Also Bolasie gets a lot of stick but he helped cause some panic in the opposition. His decision making is bad but he can be a dangerous player if he was a little sharper.

Think it's an issue beyond Allardyce. He's clearly not the medium-term appointment for anyone, especially if he carries on this way. But the expectations need to be drastically reined in, not just for this season but in general for the next five years or so. We don't have a brilliant squad, it's massively imbalanced. We pay only the 7th highest wages in the league. And we aren't using those wages efficiently like e.g. Spurs. Why should we expect more than 7th on average?

We've been 9th for a few weeks now. Was looking up the table before Bournemouth away. In a slump at the moment and somehow we're still 9th. 4 or 5 teams within 3 points of us now though. Need a win against Leicester (which'll be tough). Then Arsenal away (oh dear).
Its all about getting to 40 points I'm afraid chaps. Turgid stuff this.

How is this even possible?

Two or three points from the last five or six games.....a horrendous run of results between the end of August and November.

And yet we are still sat in the top half of the table.....

How bad are the teams below us....:pint2:
