As you say,he definitely came through as an apprentice. There's documtary evidence in the old pictures thread!

But the point about players developing is right. Ratcliffe used to get slaughtered as a left back but was getting valuable painful experience. Iirc he was playing left back in the Keeley derby?
But his speed combined with the experience and better positional sense made him a proper captain and centre back. Can see a lot of the same qualities in Godfrey

Of course we played this crowd, in our 1995 cup run. We were underdogs but we destroyed them. Something similar tonight would be nice. But i couldn't care less how we win, as long as we do win.
