That result was on Osman that, Howard has done that pass 50 times this season to midfielders and not once has it gone awry. It's a crap rule in my opinion that the keeper gets a straight red in those situations especially when the striker is looking for it, a yellow and a pen is more than enough compensation for the foul since sending them off is pretty much giving the fouled team 1 if not 3 points. I've got to admit Sunderland rode their luck but Manone definitely earned them the 3 points, that was a 1 in 1000 performance from him and I doubt he'll play that good ever again such was his performance today. We played very well and we should have had a point out of that game at the very least and it was great to see Jelavic looking hungry again.

He looked that good in fact that I would have half a mind to start him at the weekend up front with Lukaku and play a 4-4-2. I think we could do well with that with Barkley and McCarthy in the middle and Pienaar and Mirallas on the wings, it gives Lukaku a bit more freedom to go back and get his foot on the ball which is where he looks his best and it gives our wide players more to aim at. Most important of all though is it gets Osman out of the firing line because he's going to be in for dogs abuse at the weekend after what he did today.

Ah well though, screw unbeaten run stats, it just gives the opposition a reason to piss on your parade. Now that it's gone we can stop trying to not screw up and just play our game. 2136718765-0 on Sunday to Everton with a half-time speech from Osman to say what exactly he did wrong today, how he screwed Howard and the team and most importantly how he's going to make it up to everyone.

Any team to face S'ton that includes any one of the following names: Osman, Jelavic, Naismith will just about put the top ****ing hat on this result.

That result was on Osman that, Howard has done that pass 50 times this season to midfielders and not once has it gone awry.

In one sentence, this. Osman's fault 100%. Well, it's the "systems" fault as Martinez advocates that goal kick, but when it's taken Osman is at fault completely.

Yes, Howard was naive once the player was one on one, but if Osman was competent and had any awareness whatsoever then the whole thing does not happen.

Am I the only one who thinks
1. Barkley would have been given clear instructions to shoot on sight given the circumstances.
2. Jelavic was not gash?

Taking shots at Martinez is just not right. He did what any other manager would have done with all the games coming up, he had to rotate. He probably felt Osman could do a good job on Sunderland and tried to give Barkley a breather and protect him from another yellow card. Osman was supposed to be the most advanced Mid, what the hell was he doing collecting the ball from Howard I have no clue, but it's Osman's fault and his alone... and maybe Howard's for passing it to Osman and going for the ball against Ki.

If Roberto wouldn't have rotated for this game he would have have to for next game so let's just move on, prepare for the weekend and beat Southampton.

wrong you rotate if you have the quality on the bench too, just because we are around the top 4 doesn't mean we have the quality on the bench like they do, we don't have the likes of willian, mata, fernandinho, Wilshire etc. to step in. If he wants to rotate buy quality in January until then play with the best XI you have at your disposal.

are Newcastle rotating the likes of Cabaye with obertan? no as they don't have the strength on the bench too and its paying off for them we on the other hand have just lost at home to the worst side in the league ravaged with injuries because we insist on mr model pro week in week out. Seriously when moyes and Neville ****ed off I thought those days were over

I agree with that, but you dose your effort by bringing on players for bits of games...and certainly not Osman if your whole plan is to get a bigger first team pool: we know what he has to offer by now.

Barkley on from the off there should have been the easiest decision of the day. Now he's had his "rest" totally blown apart anyway.

If you bring players on, its pretty much always in the last third of the game. It's not the same as starting and it also reduces the pressure for starting places if you follow that strategy. We've pilloried past managers for always having the same starters regardless and I'd much rather the squad was managed in a different way. So far its worked, and I'd rather we didn't abandon it as the first setback we get.

Some of this hate for Osman is totally unjustified, he made a mistake, no doubt he's gutted and he got subbed off for his sins. The lad doesn't deserve some of these insults.
