He could have sparked things up in the midfield with some physical approach to the game but on the downside exactly the kind of game where he could be sent off as well. As close as you'll get to our strongest eleven that. Add in a top class winger and we're sorted, hence why maybe Barkley/Naismith are being forced to play slightly out of position. With both McCarthy and Naismith in the team, Stoke wont have much time to settle on the ball, finally a bit of pressing might happen today. Stones will add composure to the back now, and hopefully with it bring less mistakes than that dope Distin, and Mirallas, well he's boss isnt he.

Besic is ill, otherwise i would of definitely have had him in place of Barry, but thats me.

I wonder if this the last day before the yellow card "amnesty" and he doesn't want to risk Besuc as he is one yellow away from a suspension?

If we win then I wouldn't bother his absence. He's been boss of late but he was a certain yellow card contender in this game. That way it makes sense.

If Besic is ill than I presume he won't play at Sunday either, just maybe against Hull. So McCarthy has to be really-really fit now to cope with this 2 days- 2 games flow.
