They were originally named the Wednesday cricket club. They were formed by factory workers, and Wednesday was their day off work. So that's why they're called Sheffield Wednesday!
Always remember Danny Blanchflower, the former Spurs player, doing a review of the 1966 cup final, finishing up with “ Its Everton for the cup and Wednesday for the middle of the week” At the game at Wembley there was a big banner from a group of Evertonians with that quote on it.

It wasn't good enough to win it in 95 either...

That like Leicester was a 1 in a million type result and where did we finish in the league that year?

With this squad its either go all out for the cups and finish out of the european spots or vice versa - the squad isn't good enough and we get too many injuries to fight on multiple fronts.

The day we can make 5-6 changes and still field a strong team is the day you know we can take it seriously.

It wasn't a one in a million type result at all! We picked up some good form and won the cup, we also had great form in the league which took us away from the mess that Walker had left us in.

No team is dominant this season and we are one of the better teams right now.

Winning stuff breeds success. Just worry about the next game because planning ahead never works out.

The real issue for me is do I even care about winning it this season? Without the fans it's not the same. I suppose its better to win it without fans than not win it but meh. Europe is the same really, if we still cant have fans in the ground next season then does anyone care about Europe?

What winning mentality do spurs have so ?

They dont.

But my point isn't solely about beating Spurs in the 5th round - the squad just isn't good enough to win trophies at present its that simple for me.

The club needs a complete rebuild/overhaul and the manager isn't going to be able to achieve that in just the one season. Im someone who normally prioritises the cups but after seeing Utd thump us in our own backyard after making about 6 changes to their starting 11 its hit home that we have a long way to go yet.

Im hopeful with the speed of the covid roll out that we'll be back in GP come September. May not be full capacity right away but everyone is vaccinated who wants one by July/August I cant see a situation where stadiums are still left empty.

Fingers crossed ;)

See i can't see the logic in this at all. Its good enough to maybe finish fourth but not win the cup. We will need to win at least 10 more games to achieve that.

You don't need a very strong squad to win a knockout cup. You just take it one game at a time and hope you meet a few weak teams along the way.
