Sublime first half, cant remember the last time we came in at the break 3 nil up in the league, second half we still looked dangerous and controlled it after newcastle had a little 10 minute rally.

Was really impressed with Mccarthy

Little worried that jags is allowing one or two little wobbles into his game per match

How boss is it being a blue for a change, cant wait for matches to come

Hey, could anyone point me to a video of the full match, I missed the first half due to work deadlines where we were apparently staggeringly good and then caught the second half where we were making hard work of it when 3-1 up. Great points anyway, agree with edge, don't think Newcastle are as much as of a push over as everyone thinks.

if you have Sky, its been replayed right now on sky sports 1

Yeah.

He needs to pull his socks up on Saturday or we'll be punished.

Well the usual Everton showed up.

The first half Everton was fantastic. The second half Everton was, well I won't say poor but I will say they could have been much much better. Newcastle weren't going to just lay down and credit to them for pushing the game and Pardew for making the necessary changes. Cabaye made a huge difference for them.

I was very pleased with the players for the most part. Yeah, I could get nitpicky on several issues but then again, who's going to play a perfect match. That said, I do want to see Everton do something about this tendency to allow teams back into matches. They need to develop more of a killer instinct.

All in all undefeated and a very real shot at keeping our unbeaten streak against City alive !!!

Howard played well Tex, I'll give him that. Impressed of late, looks like Robles is giving him a good push

Newcastle will cause problems for some of our top 4 competitors, no doubt about that....they just need some top two inches inspiration ....and decent defenders

Went to the game last night, we were brilliant, passed the ball around very well and looked very dangerous, we should have won the game by at least 2 or 3 goals, the whole midfield were superb and lakaku is just brilliant, great night but was nervous at the end when we should have been out of sight. COYB!!!

Tempo - still cannot get use to it. We need to speed it up in the oppos half.

The FB bombing on has been taken out of our game play. If we went 2 upfront if might force us to get more service in from the FB.

How you feeling now about the new regime mate?

Early days (and we'll get some turbulence soon, no doubt) but have you changed your mind on matters?

They have the quality to cause anyone problems, they just happened to be managed by a barely Championship standard manager.

The issue I have with the 2nd half is it wasn't exactly a sensational performance from Newcastle that got them back in the game. They improved, but hell, how could they have been worse? We completely and utterly dropped off the pace - something Martinez very directly commented on post-match - so he knows exactly what happened.

It was absolute complacency and we were close (Remy's shot just over in injury time) to having a bit of a storm on our hands. Passes went astray, players didn't close down. It was genuinely worrying to watch, especially as I couldn't believe it was the same side which played so well in the first 30 minutes. Just glad we 'held on' - something we shouldn't have had to do.

Shame that this is what I'm talking about because what we should be talking about, if it wasn't for us dropping off so much, was an excellent first half full of quick passing, pace and endeavour.

Too early Dave, 7 games (3 wins, 3 Draws and 1 loss). I expected him to have a bad Sept after the first 3 games but he bounced back with the new players which saved us.

I thought the barcodes tactics were spot on in the 2nd half, they targerted jags lack of pace and went down the seam after him. We could see more teams go that way against us which is why he has to pick up the tempo and put the games to bed early on. If Jags or the mikman get injured we are in trouble becuase as good as John Stones is he is not ready to play week in and week out.

So in summary, poor Aug, great sept...what will oct bring? consolidation or set backs.
