Weve got strength in depth in every position.

Moyes has never used a full squad. He has an 11 at the beginning of every season and sticks to it as much as possible, every game.

Meaning all other squad members are rusting and not ready until being thrown in at random and then dropped at will.
Hard to argue with this like, as much as I like Moyes

Completely correct.

Said it for years: he'll always use older players and leave young players on the bench or out on loan...even when they've been expensively bought for him now.

That's for two reasons:

1/ he cant coach players, and young players need coaching. He relies on using players already coached elsewhere to do the basics for their position.

2/ playing older pros hands him control over the dressing room and hands him survival. A political move and not one based on who's the better player to get us results in matches...that's where his 'stability' comes from.

You cant build on a manager like Moyes. If the people running this club have any sort of expert guidance they'll be told that and get shut of him before he's allowed to waste another £110M this summer.

go away zat

Well. we're sorting out the running of the club, so the one remaining advantage they have over us is the size of their global fanbase and the money it generates. I honestly believe we will start closing that gap now. Once Liverpool Waters is complete, we'll be a huge magnet for attention, new fans and all that global branding nonsense that has put the reds where they are.
I hope you're right, mate.

The subs killed us, Barry and George did nothing, moving Ndiaye to right freed sobzolas, whatever his name , to get forward more as jones didn't need help anymore , so we had no threat , when jarred was down a few of us saying put O'brien center back , Garner right back , take off gueye who was spent and put Tim and Alcaraz/Rohl/Armstrong on, fresh legs we desperately needed in midfield, I know it's hindsight, just looked obvious we needed fresh legs in midfield .

Not hindsight at all, it was obvious to everyone watching.....except the only person who was in a position to make the changes required.

Were 10th.

Patterson as an average backup right back isnt too bad really.

Any idea who Brentford, Bournemouth & Brightons backup full backs are?

At the end of the day though, these are Moyes chosen players for his squad.

The concern now is for the summer when we'll need starting full backs.

No point signing backup players as he'll never use them. If they do get a few mins and perform well he'll drop them anyway.
We're 10th exactly, I want us to be highe,r we'll only do that by having competition for positions by decent players which is the point I'm trying to make

Brentford etc. I don't care about other team's players.

Paterson isn't good enough for us.

We've needed decent starting full backs for the last 3 seasons at least.

I'm not seeking signing back up players just players who are good enough to compete with other quality players who will battle for the shirt.

This has been a transition season I don't have a problem with that Moyes in my opinion has done a half decent job, put we need to vastly improve our squad in every position, I only quoted the fullbacks I'm not focusing on them, I could go to our forwards and I'd be all day telling you how inadequate they are.

Certainly no strength in depth there.

boloox mate, a player switching of for a second is due to the manager LOL

christ
Of course the players have responsibility but it's his job to make sure they're switched on all the time as well. The players get more blame on that situation but to say it's nothing to do with him is ridiculous.

Whether it's last minute or not is irrelevant, are you saying a manager is never to blame when you concede off a corner?

It is the hope that kills you ,that and expecting miracles .There is no way we can bridge the gap ,there was even a gap when we won in the eighties ,it is not a premiership thing it is much deeper and longer than that ,it goes back to Shankly's time.
A lot of damage was done in Cattericks time when he shut out the press while Shankly welcomed them with open arms.
Don't get me wrong Catterick was a great manager who liked to play football the right way it was just unfortunate that illness finished his time at Everton.
