agree mate, remember that Rush game, was around my 8th birthday too I think, traumatising and it was live on tv? we never seem to thrash them apart from the Andy Johnson game, always 1-0 or 2-1 maybe a 2-0 if we are lucky ! they have thrashed us a few times. The law of averages say we should have at least one! I'm sure Sunderland have thrashed Newcastle and even City in the 80's beat United 5-1 I think. A nice clean 5-0 would be a holy grail

correct, just googled it , was only 1-0 at HT as well, that was one of their peak sides though. I’m sure I remember some televised derby in the winter in the early 80’s
