…..watching them recently they’ve been decent in spells before falling away. They got stuffed at City but bossed the game for the first 20mins. They have quality, expect them to have us chasing the game for a bit but we need to get through those periods without conceding because they are fragile.

All the reds I know reckon if they concede the first goal they are done, their heads will drop and we will beat them. So get an early gol and we win versus get an early goal and my nerves are in utter shreds for the next 90 minutes or so. Ahh the joys of being a Blue!

I do. Having stood and watched many a debacle over the decades, the 0-5 in 82 is the one that goes deep. At some point in my lifetime, I want to do the same to them. No narrow win, but a jolly good thrashing.

agree mate, remember that Rush game, was around my 8th birthday too I think, traumatising and it was live on tv? we never seem to thrash them apart from the Andy Johnson game, always 1-0 or 2-1 maybe a 2-0 if we are lucky ! they have thrashed us a few times. The law of averages say we should have at least one! I'm sure Sunderland have thrashed Newcastle and even City in the 80's beat United 5-1 I think. A nice clean 5-0 would be a holy grail
