I thought we were [Poor language removed] awful tbh and I ain't one to slag us off and knee jerk. I'm surprised at the level of fear and respect we showed to get a result. Defensively and AGAIN Robles done everything you could ask ( game by game this kid impresses me more ) but we were awful going forward. Piss poor late substitutions once again let a shyte Liverpool side walk away with a point because we didn't want to trouble them. Positives are - well we kept a clean sheet against another shyte team who are above because they've fluked about another 10 points more than us. Boring game, piss poor from us, roll on Europa League where we have something to play for

Well not going to argue with the point or the initial setup. They are in form we aren't. A loss could have negated the positives of the past couple games. I like how we set up. I thought two things Barry really needs to come off. And Naismith was on too long. I think Bobby was conservative but he recognizes the last thing we wanted was come away with the fans at the teams throat.

I think in general Naismith does nothing to help us play on the deck. He lacks so much there. But Bobby just wanted someone to run all day and press not giving them a free minute. Just think he persisted too long before the change. Should have been around 70 minute mark

Is Besic ok he went straight down the tunnel after being subbed. Was his foot hurt. Or was he fuming why am I subbed after carrying Barry the whole damn game?

dont understand all the naismith criticism, he was decent the whole set up looked strong, naismith gives decent balance and he's class at the holding o down fifa harrying. He's good in games like this but should have barkley in games where we will have more of the ball

I would of liked to of started with Barkley and Lennon. We might of got done on the break tho so I don't really know. Maybe we will start them against Chelsea next week. Anyway, we didn't lose. I'm happy. For this season anyway (good point considering were awful so far)
The lads did ok today, nothing special but we got a point. Robles did well again well played lad.

Absolute crap. If Moyes had served up that back foot lack of any form of ambition, bus parking garbage, he'd have been stoned for it.

Quite why he didn't change it and look to put us on the front foot with 20-25 left is beyond me

I actually think this type of game puts Barkley at his strengths. A little less focus on defending and more emphasis on the counter. Barkley has more trouble when the box is packed and he cant run by people.

For all we were crap, they weren't much better and quite frankly they never looked much like scoring apart from a shot which looked to be going wide but hit the woodwork.

The best chance of the game fell to Seamus at the death.

I was disappointed with starting XI but I supose with McGeady injured and Lennon lacking match fitness he hadn't much option in midfield.

It was an awful match and God help any neutral sitting down in front of his TV to watch it.

Three clean sheets in a row now in the league and Joel filling me with confidence most the time and I think that is one positive at least to be taken from today.

The negative note was the prolonged periods of passing across the back four.

A more astute coach that Brent might have made us pay for that.

It was very reminiscent of those attritional derbies of the early and mid seventies when 0-0 was the most regular scoreline and little of note happened in the game.

Ah well.....that is the league derby out the way for another season and at least the buggers never beat us.

Roll on Stamford Bridge ;)

Still shocked here that the we didn't end up with 10 men and Gerrard didn't score a 90th minute screamer into the top corner.

Say it quietly but the ref had a half decent game.

And that's not lowering expectations, it's just the way it is in derbies.

So all in all can't blame Martinez for keeping it ultra tight and settling for a point. A loss to them at this point of the season would have been unfathomable.

If we'd gone for it from the off and been picked off on the counter which would have happened he'd have been accused by some of gross naivety and I'd have been at the front of the queue.

Spot on regarding the ref. Shockingly he actually had a decent game and I can't stand the tit. That's 4 wins and 3 draws so maybe he's a closet blue after all!

Expected more from both teams.

Suprised coutinho was taken off, he was a danger all first half.

2 managers scared not to lose.
Coutinho was boarderline injured, he has been brilliant for them recently but Besic and McCarthy were all over him in a cheeky way, don't blame him going off, I would facing that pair of nutters.

I'm surprised after the last month and a half that we've endured that people are slating Martinez to try and take it back to basics and get the defensive side of things sorted out before we become more expansive. Don't think we were good by any stretch of the imagination but we need to get a solid defensive base back before we can focus on becoming the free flowing attacking team that we saw last season, Martinez has realised that following the start to our season we need to go back to go forwards and if that means grinding out boring 0-0's against the team that were joint top of the European form table going into this game to gradually get back to how we were then im perfectly happy with that.
