We seem to make the wrong decisions when counter attacking away from Goodison. Almost a mental thing?

Could be or an inexperience thing. We've got all the attributes to be much better.

One thing that will improve in that area is Barkley making much better decisions, he's playing very canny indeed.

For a team with so much pace and dynamism in the final third we are poor at counter attacking football far too often. That's particularly useful in away games.

Fair point. I mean when we get it right we are a devastating counter attacking team.

But yeah, far too often we screw it up with a bad ball or we dwell on the ball too long.

I hope so. If there's one player I want to fulfil his potential more than any other, it's him.

Pennington grew into the game after his shaky start and was sound. Cleared his lines well, didn't get flustered by Vardy's pressing (again, after the start) and he eventually moved on to Jags.

I didn't see too much of Pennington after the first ten minutes which I imagine suits him just fine. Must be hard to get yourself established and confident as a centre back with the forwards you play in the Premier League. Would imagine Williams straight back in next week.

It's what is necessary right now man. Pennington in a three if we play it again. While there's a chance one of the clubs above us can mess up spectacularly we got to go all out for the points.

I think it's really interesting that nobody is talking about Barry playing in the middle of a back three when he came on.

I think we are used to seeing Barry effectively play that role anyway that it went unnoticed.

But this was different. When defending the three of them were working as a unit keeping the same line. His first appearance as a center back for us. Nobody noticed haha.

You'd have thought with him being naturally left footed he'd have taken the leftmost postion but Jags stayed there - possibly becuase he still has more pace?

He's played as an emergency CB for us a couple of times under Martinez - possibly Krasnodar at home??
