Bernard offered more in fifteen minutes than the rest all day. Sadly someone thought he needed to go wide after Wall-e ran out of battery power

Very true.
I’m not sure what’s more worrying though....our lack of attacking prowess or the naivety that we are showing against these sides. You could cross the ball in the air from now until next Christmas and DCL won’t beat Maguire to it. The one that goes in low beats the defence but no Everton striker anticipates it.

And this sums it up. It was criminal that we couldn’t get balls into the box, and when we do no one bothered......

Once again the majority of this team were very poor. Not passing to each other and very poor movement going forward. Yet another defensive error cost us a goal. This has to be down to how the players are coached and managed. I’m not saying Silva should go but he has to do something, whether that is changing his coaching staff or demanding a couple of new forwards in this window. If he doesn’t then he will only have himself to blame if our performances continue like this.

Hi all - newly registered after long time lurking! Not a trouble maker honestly! Brought up in Leicester so always been a sort of Leicester follower but while Leicester were bobbing up and down between divisions (as was their habit) have always looked at Everton as my other club, the choice originating from the Lineker link! Over the years though I’ve turned Everton blue so disappointed with today’s result but at least we lost to Leicester!

My wife’s a Liverpool fan I’m afraid. Sorry. She also has a medical background. She warned me Everton would likely be leggy by mid-season because that’s simply what happens when players are introduced to the frantic pressing and attacking football that Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal now play. The former 2 teams saw the same effect and Arsenal will see it this season. Which makes it so critical, if a team plays this way, to get in the best fitness technicians and medical team. Liverpool and City have invested very heavily in this area and the effects in contributing to the enduring sharpness of their players is obvious on the pitch. Does Marco have the right fitness personnel or even personal experience in addressing this area?? If not, we’re going to continuously see an initially gradual and then dramatic fall in fitness and form (including on-field decision making by the players)!

And Happy New Year!

Not sure what Silva was trying in that second half. He says players are nervous etc. But they don’t seem to know *precisely* what they have to do, or they don’t believe in it.

My guess today was he was after getting it wide and whipping in crosses. But full backs overlapping too late. When Gana/Gomes/Sigurdsson have the ball in the middle, play didn’t seem to have a clear purpose. Zouma at one point taking the shot from 30 yards. It’s terrible coaching that allows him to end up being down a rabbit hole.

That said, without the Keane error it’s 0-0 forever. That’s probably just as frustrating as anything.

Belief and patience in short supply at Goodison at the moment, on the pitch and in the stands.

Player-wise: Thought Zouma and Gana had decent games, particularly Zouma. Digne as solid as usual too. The rest were just nothing. And as for the shouts for Kenny MOM. I’m all for supporting the academy players, but there’s a balance between that and the reality of elite sport. If we want to push on as a club we can’t be sentimental.

But patience is the operative word for me this season. I just want to see things going in the right direction. And although that was stretched to the limit today I still think it’s true for the season as a whole.

Welcome back to the Keane of 2017. After flattering to deceive for six weeks the Keane of old is back. Utter dross today, could easily have conceded two penalties as well. And he has had 3-4 six yard box headers in recent games that he couldn't direct goal wards too. To think we spent 30m on that. Recoup what we can in the market for him next summer and use that to help make Zouma permanent. He and Mina must be the pairing from hereon. We really have to stop signing one season wonders and (all due respect) smaller club star performers. false economy.

Yes, it is criminal and somewhat depressing.
You would honestly think that wingers and strikers would take one look at the Leicester centre backs and decide to try low balls drilled on from the flanks or low defence splitting passes through the centre. But....they still try crossing, usually hitting it so high so avoid the defenders that the ball overshoots the entire box.

we have zero team cohesion... ive seen nothing to suggest we have a team starting to pull together as yet. this is the biggest disappointment for me. zero team togetherness and unity.

At least Silva was honest in his post match assessment. The crowd were largely silent watching rubbish football in cold misery for 90 minutes. Two terrible teams and another trip home wondering why I went. I don't know how he can dig this lot out of their lethargy. Walcott wants binning asap and as for Richarlison, what a waste of space he can be when he looks like he does not care. Brand says his priority is to cut the wage bill, so next April should be interesting when a fair number of this lot hopefully will be shown the door.

True. Problem is that the longer this goes on the more likely it is that a lack of unity becomes a lack of trust on the pitch.
