Not sure you understand, we don't mean that as a signifier of being bad. Its to describe situations like dominating a whole match against relegation fodder, to finally score in the last minute, only to let in an equaliser in the 95th min. Its letting absolute dog crap strikers score their only goal of the season vs you. It's being used as an example of, every time a new law is brought in, only to be the only team to get done over by it.

Yeah I'm familiar with phrase. I'd say being in 2nd or 3rd place for most of the season to then end up finishing 7th would be a pretty Everton thing to do.
