Everton v Espanyol

Seen some positives in the last few weeks: the players finally look like they can last a whole football match for the first time in 2 years, also the feeling we are going concede from absolutely nothing at any time has lessened considerably.

Some legacy issues remain though: we still can't string together an attack through the middle of a crowded park (Lukuku's control & holding play often at the crux of this), simultaneously delivery from wide isn't quick enough, inevitably getting crowded in the touch-line areas and having to go backwards.

Gueye looks like an instant improvement on McCarthy IMO, and much as I love Gerri, today showed why he will lose his place to Lennon in patches throughout the season.

Personnel-wise, same as everyone is else saying, we need another striking option, and fast.

But hold on, it's a great squad and only the manager needed changing...

Koeman learning the hard way what a bunch of bottlers and hard of learning jellyfish who let his predecessor down.

He better get Williams signed now and anyone else not likely to see their own arse when they go a goal down.
Hello Dave, glad to see you are here again. Looking forward to lots of interesting and controversial posts mate!

Thanks for clearing that up!

Sorry lads.

He looks half interested and lacking focus. Rio Ferdinand said it right ; decide what you want to do, accept it and getbin the zone .

He clearly isn't anywhere near capable right now.

Personally I would snap there hand off at Bony and 35m .

I hope I'm proven wrong, but Koeman comes across as a bit lazy and arrogant.

Loves his golf holidays during the season according to a saints fan I know - and came here for the pay rise and nothing more
Brian Clough was more arrogant and he was having holidays during season constantly.

You fail to see how good a player Barry is mate if all you think he does is give 10 yard passes, but whatever.

I'm not saying he should be a guaranteed starter btw, and we do definitely need another midfielder in.
I'm not doubting Barry was a good player in his day. But to old now.
Shows how shockingly bad his partners are.

There was a reason city got rid 3yrs ago. And then won the title

Based on that performance I'm really not that confident of a good result next week.

Not saying we'll get shafted either, right enough, just don't think we'll win (or even score).

It's going to take a few more weeks before this team begins to play well together.
