Congrats to palace and @Alan Whittle . Glad you are going to stay up.

As lacking in fight as we had in the first half, we at least ended the game well - would have been easy to fold up after the 3rd went in but they didn't.

Perhaps CL is a step too far for this team but we are still only a pt behind Arsenal, lets hope they slip up too. If not, Europa would still be a great achievement in Martinez first season, perhaps we can follow the example of Athletico who used it to gain European experience and silverware before taking on the CL.

I honestly can't understand the people saying palace did well tonight. We like others have been saying couldn't even pass to each other consistently and Lukaku lost almost every ball played into him with his back to goal.

but they did do well.
7 shots 4 on target and 3 go in
we should be so poor.
2 hit and hopes and a free header coz stones lost his man.

When we do similar to teams having a poor game we say so what...you can only beat what's put in front of you...and we did

the run had to end sometime, they always do...this is Everton remember.

We used our luck up in some dire-ish wins with OG's and deflections

Reset the clock and go again for 4 games

It'll go until the last day

Said that in all the way through since Sept ( oh yes I did )

It's just that the hope and expectations got the better of us for a bit

I'm going to say something that might be unpopular but I don't think Palace are near as bad as many might think. I thought they played well. Not great. Just well.

you all have this stupid issue with 'everytime there is expectation, we mess up' because we had dithering dave in charge for far too long. did we not just beat arsenal 3 nil in a big expectational game?
i think it's good that martinez picked the team he did tonight, to show all you football managers that picking your most attractive team on paper doesn't necessarily work on the pitch!
just because you lose a game, or a game against a top team doesnt mean we have this mentality that we crack under pressure! chelsea got beat by palace at home! chelsea!

Chelsea beat Palace 2-1 at home, actually.

But do carry on.

Watch Liverpool absolutely leather Palace at the weekend. Just watch.

Put your house on it. But that's why they are top of table and we are 5th. I think we show good hunger for around 70-80 mins of games but the crowd across the park now do it for 90 plus. Everything they do now is 100% from effort, aggression, supporters etc.

We were slack for first 5 mins of second half and those 5 mins killed our 4th place.

Its all over fokes. We will drop points against either utd or city. Arsenal wont drop as many.

It was good while it lasted.

In what way did not having McCarthy starting play a part in their 3 goals?

In lots of ways, when palace attacked they looked dangerous, had mccarthy been there half their attacks wouldnt of even happened and therefore they wouldnt of scored so many. But Martinez had a plan and unfortunately it didnt work. We might of all been moaning if it finished 0-0 because Mccarthy did play but we didnt have enough attacking players on the pitch

Calm down lads, 4th is do able still. Palace came defended very very well.
My opinion is the lads got slightly carried away with it tonight, it was a very Arsenal type of performance with the over the top play and almost trying to walk the ball in the net.
All the pressure is gone now and Martinez got his line up wrong.

What annoyed me most about tonight is the sloppiness of the goals we conceded. For the first one, Distin is stood ball-watching. For the 2nd it's just dreadful marking and for the 3rd Puncheon walks past 4 players and leaves Jerome one-on-one with Stones, who unfortunately slipped.

Pulis always seems to bring out the worst of us. Absolutely hate him, football-wise that is. You know it's bad when Cameron Jerome scores against you.

Hopefully good old Moyes will underestimate us on sunday. We need 12 out of 12 points, it's definitely doable. Believe lads, believe.
