There's optimism, then there's this. A whole new level of optimism.

4th is gone. We'd have to put away City and United and hope for miracles from Arsenal's gash opposition. It's gone.
I would say it is almost gone, which is (last time I checked) not the same as gone. It will be incredibly different and probably take a miracle, but if it can happen to us it can happen to them too, pretty sure Everton had won their last 7 before tonight.

Oh well, we lasted one game when the pressure was on and got to 4th and wilted like a dead flower. Couldn't handle the pressure of needing a win and performed garbage for 3 quarters of that game. It ain't over yet but its back in Arsenals hands now and the lads let themselves down 100% tonight. Well done Palace, deserved the 3 points.

Naismith was a positive once again. Which is always nice. But plenty of players were dirge tonight. When I say plenty I mean most. No cutting edge passes. Lukaku seemed nowhere near the box when it was out wide. You bust a nut to get in there.

4 Games to go - we're a point from the team in 4th. We'd have all accepted that at the start of the season.

As guttening as tonight was, reality check...

Arsenal will drop a point or two, we can still do it.

Plus as annoying as tonight is, it doesn't take away from what a great run of results we had to make us so dissapointed tonight.

We could have just lost to Palace and still be stuck in 7th place.

And i'd rather have lost to Palace but beaten Arsenal than vice versa.

Jeez. In our hands and we do this? The Arse won't let it slip now, 100% nailed on.

More work needed on the mentality Bobby. Fair play he's got us dreaming bigger than anyone would ever have predicted at the start of the season, but this result was a real throwback.

Still, 5th and European footy is still on and a helluva good platform to build on after a transition season.
yeah a good transition season compared to rs coming 7th last season but top 4 will be harder to get next season given spurs will come good and van gaal will sort united out or spurs if he goes there

listen you gang of diva's! we're above man utd and spurs on a £5 pound budget and battling with arsenal for fourth, stop whinging.. embrace it. we created alot of chances and had alot of crosses but lukaku doesnt seem to like playing in the box, the little turd

Let's put it this way mate - if I was a bookie, I'd confidently offer odds of around 50/1 on Everton finishing 4th, and close bets on Arsenal.
