It's really just what Martinez said, the defence's mentality was all wrong. Chelsea weren't doing anything spectacular, we made them better than what they were by being scared of them.

Lukaku hit the bar and gets no service from Naismith. If we had a coutinho/Erikson type player behind him he would be a 20+ goal a season striker easily. Lad gets no service atleast barkleys surging runs opened up space for him he atm is opening up the space for Naismith

Agreed. Lukaku was great when he was on the ball and he made some good runs but was ignored by Mirallas a few times. He just needs to be more involved/included in the play.

[QUOTE="slimspek, post: 2977879,

Easy saying it mate but we don't have the player with the eye to pick him out. Only one who comes close is Ross and he's out for a minimum 6 weeks and still failed to get an assist last season.

It's why I've banged on about Ben arfa all summer, available on the cheap, can play behind the forward/on the wings and on his day is top quality, ripped a few teams open down the years

And lukaku doing nothing again

No concerns there...he is late in his pre-season (unfortunately) as RM decided to rest him to have him fresher later in the season. Time will tell if that was the right decision BUT point is...expect him to start firing within the next game or two as he should be back to match fitness/sharpness very soon. In short...keep in mind he didn't play in pre-season.

There's a class picture of Howard getting up in Costa's face after him being a snide to Coleman. It's the exact kind of fire that you're desperate for your captain to have, something that I've not seen Jags show since before the world cup. He needs a break, regardless of his performance as a centre half his performance as captain is just as important. No one goes crap overnight, he just needs a kick up the arse and be forced to play for his place in the team rather than it going without saying a la P.Neville

A RS fan (he's not a wind up merchant) called me after the game and said it is the best attacking football he has seen from an everton side. I am disappointed like everyone else with the result and the defending. But looking back and looking at the positives we pushed them so hard (2 of their goals were deflections) and we hit the crossbar and the post. Miralles and Naismith were superb and I think McGeady had his best game for us.
