McGeady was decent today, certainly more effective than I thought he would be. His run & assist for Naisy's goal was a perfect example of what he's about - if he can do that more consistently he'll be an important player for us.

we all knew from the first three games this season it was going to be grind it out time after pre-season that sounds kopiteish i admit but ive had a few. 1st two goals play to the f'ing whistle we could have at least shut them down. I havent seen us this bad in defence for a long time it'll right itself im hoping they get a good kick up the arse after this....

What about jags giving the ball away for hazard to score or the og? Jags has to be the first to be dropped

Jags has been absolutely rank all season. Something seriously wrong with his fitness. Also I wonder if there´s something mental as well. Has there been a personal tragedy of some sort perhaps?

I've worked out how we lost that. Naismith ain't a midfielder he plays in the hole. Effectively then we had a four in midfield two of whom were pretty much out and out wingers, and we just got constantly overpowered whenever Chelsea stepped forward with their five. Losing Barkley fcked the whole thing up, and then losing Pienaar added to it. He has to drop either Naismith (harsh I know) or Lukaku, and put in another midfielder. He also can't play two wingers against a team as strong as Chelsea.

True. It's worse Naismith plays more as a 2nd striker. We essentially went 4-4-2 against them while also pushing the fullbacks up essentially meaning at times it looked more like a 2-4-4.

But it's how we played last season as well. McCarthy and Barry almost always gave us the cover but in that game it seemed to just pass them by.

We need to get back to a few 1-0s and go from there.

If you get into an end to end attacking match against a side as good as this season's chelsea, their will only be one winner.

We played straight into their hands.

Chelsea struggle against tight defensive teams as shown with their tight win last week and love to play open expansive teams.

If you fight fire with fire your going to get burnt

Yeah I agree, just think McCarthy was knackered because of the way he plays. I don't think McCarthy should be dropped at all, and defo not blaming him for the goals, I just think we could have done with fresh legs in midfield.

Just seen the goals on SSN and how was Distan offside when terry touched {Shinned the ball to him}the ball in the build up?
I know every blue is down but boy did they have some luck , and joy v a poor defence today, also TH was lucky not to be sent off twice he caught the ball outside his area in the 1st half!
They played well and had plenty of luck , but we made it very easy for them!

A good side were beaten by an excellent side. It would be super lovely to have world class CB's and a more vocal "up and at 'em" captain but we're stuck with what we've got and, in the end, we'll win more than we lose.

Yea Martinez made the same mistake at the RS last season too but you don't really have any other choice if you're 2 goals down.
