Seemed a bit odd at 5-3 they brought a midfielder off and brought a striker on and we took off a striker and brought on our most defensive midfielder.

Thought Besic did good after his mistake.

Think you're being harsh on Howard, Distin and Baines there. Possibly McCarthy too.

Jags and Barry not having the pace or stamina left us with gaping holes in the middle of our defence. McGeady is a squad player being asked to perform like a starter - not entirely his fault, Martinez needs to recognise that he can't play 90 minutes at prem level. If I was picking the team for the next game Jags is on the bench and Stones takes his place alongside Distin; Besic and Gibson start for Barry and McCarthy, to give Barry a kick up the backside and McCarthy a rest. Atsu starts instead of McGeady, unless Pienaar is fit in which case he starts instead of McGeady.

Just calling it how i see it mate. All about opinions and i thought they were turd. I think only half if the team have turned up so far this season due to being unfit so when they finally get up to speed i think we will do great and destroy some sides.

If you are two goals down (with one of them offside and some other iffy decisions both ways) you can shut up shop and try and snatch a goal to make it look good (knife to a gunfight) or you can go for it and sacrifice defensive cover. I thought it was a great match and scoring three goals against Chelsea is probably something that no other team will do this season. Doesn't help us with the points, but I'm pretty confident about the season after that performance.

Dont see too much to be positive about at all. Maybe Eto'o? I'm worried about Lukaku tbh as he does seem to cause us problems with his play in the final third.

But mainly, the defensive approach and performances will see us being cut open by lesser sides than Chelsea.

The kind of performance I feared Martinez would bring to the club when he joined.

I understand the frustration but Jags and Distin haven't forgotten how to defend overnight. There will be a shake up over the international break. We'll come back stronger.
But for Jags particularly, he has been on the decline since his injury... It's not just overnight... I wasn't comfortable with him last season much either

Before we all start clambering for Stones, did anyone watch the pre season games?
He was absolute gash, worse than jags I promise you.
We need new faces, a leader who will kick arse out on the pitch, haven't got a clue who mind.

I know. That's also another worry. What happened to these players over the summer?

It will be fine; I like the way we're looking.. slick incisive and creative play.

Chelsea got well fortunate with their limited possession and in each of their breaks on the counter.

Hahahahaha

They turned the screw at will and scored

It was like Wigan Vs Spurs when they were hammered 7-0

Total embarrassment tonight and there is nothing to suggest that Martinez can fix a defensive unit

Thought McCarthys legs went a bit with 20 to go - thats when Besic shouldve been brought on.

McCarthy was very good again today - covered for a tiring Barry and had to cover for Jags as well. Distin was poor but Jags was just all over the place - couldn't deal with Costa. It was suicidal trying to play a high line against the pace they have in the side, but if anyone finishes above them this season they'll be the team that wins the league. Disappointing start to the season is entirely down to bad defending and

Check out their third and fifth goal replay.

If we can just stop letting attackers have free runs in behind our defense than we win that game 3-1 or at worse we draw. I'm not sure if it's a matter of getting in different personnel or changing something tactically.

Looked like our lads were much fitter this match, energy wasn't an issue. So at least we fixed one problem from last week.

Our attack wasn't capitalizing on mistakes so much as it was creating scoring opportunities. Cut the defensive mistakes and we're going to beat a lot of good teams.

today is the worst I've seen some of our fans, and also the worst behaviour I've seen from the away support in a while.

Ugly performance, one to forget, immediately.

Nope he wasn't not one bit.

I know he is the golden boy but he was poor. And at fault for two goals

These three games make me feel Wigan is still in PL. I am horrified by our useless defending.
Me too.
Martinez was great last season but when thigs go against him like at wigan he could not cope.
The sign of a good manager is being strong and sorting the problems hope he has it in him.
First thing i would do is give stones a run in the team
