How is it a strange comment.

Define fantastic? and how is decorated at domestic and international level?

My best friend is a season ticket at fulham, and didn't rate him at all, nor did his spell at wigan go well.

Moreover, not one manger we have had has rated him.

Captaining Englsnd at every age group. Winning the European championships with England, a major international honour, which we’ve only ever achieved a couple of times at any level, one of which was 1966, before then.

Winning the league at u18 & u23 level with Everton, bar from winning the World Cup you couldn’t get any more decorated for a domestic youth player.

His appearances at England level isn't great. He has only ever contributed at u17 level.

The key element is his 24 and hasn't done a thing at first team level when given the chance. Managers have seen him train day in and day out, and they don't rate him.

Im not sure how that can be classed as a strange comment when its the truth.

Disagree to be honest, I think if you want to be compeitive for the CL I think you need four equally competent full backs on either side.

You can get by with one senior and one with potential, but you need four in my opinion.

It’s been one of the many snakes we’ve gone down in this seasons snakes and ladders.
We WANT 4, but we need 2. Id settle for 2. 2 would be a fantastic number to have.

I agree with you, I said it in my initial post that he’s failed at the top level but what you’re saying now isn’t what you originally said.............

Garbutt has failed at every level, his not the answer.

He’s clearly had a very successful youth career.

..not sure how accurate the article was but I did include in one of my morning transfer round-ups that a number of Championship clubs are interested in Evans because he’s in the last 6 months of his contract.

I note in Jagielka’s excellent coverage that he thought Evans has a big future at the club.

That's him sold to PNE then lol

Well that was the most enjoyable Everton game I've watched since the Cyprus away game.

Portsmouth were clearly a couple of levels below us but the lads made that show on the pitch which doesn't always happen.

Feeney & Gibson were impressive at the back. As well as being good defenders you can tell they are both ballers.

Garbutt did well and would bring much needed balance to the first team pending Baines' return (assuming we don't buy somebody).

Hornby also looks the part. He stands out at U18 level due to his size, but he's shown there's a lot more to his game than that. Very composed in front of goal but we saw a different side to his game tonight as he turned provider. Lost count of how many chances he created.

Bene is steadily becoming my favourite Everton young player out of all of them. He just oozes class and ran the show tonight. I'd have him in the first team now. NEA.

Evans was star of the show tonight though. Two years ago, out of all our youngsters, I predicted that Evans and Baningime had the best chance to make it at Everton. At one stage I thought I got it wrong with Evans, and I heard he'd had a few growth issues. But he showed tonight he's back on line. Apart from his skill and ability with both feet, he's got this fantastic football brain. You could see it in the positions between the lines he was taking up in the second half especially. Has a goal in him too. It helps having somebody as good as Bene behind him who can pick him out. He's filled out a lot since I last saw him.

Special mention for Jags. I think we've found a new position for our captain. Behind the microphone.;)

Our clearances are aimed towards our players up the pitch, which is refreshing.
Unsworth's teams

Got to give Unsworth and Ebbrell credit, so much to enjoy about the style of play. Players in possession are given options to pass to by team mates working very hard to find space. A feature of the team is that there is usually a forward dropping back towards a midfielder in possession to give them the option of playing the ball forwards. Contrast that with the first team when the only option is invariably a sideways/backwards pass. Lots of pass and move triangles. It really is a pleasure to watch with so many chances created.

Agree!

Very impressed with him - already looks totally at home at that level.

Yes I thought Evans seemed to have gone backwards but he's really picked up these last few games. Willing to play anywhere too! I think a loan would be ideal for him now.

Martina v Garbutt - one's got a left foot, the other hasn't.

If you're referring to last seasons PL2 title i'm not sure he played in many if any at all, Antonee Robinson played LB in the games I saw
