He mentioned opportunities just not presenting themselves as the club hoped in the final days of the window, and maybe those chances might be there come Jan.

Well, I'd rather we hold out for Jan if our preferred targets aren't available, rather than picking someone up who doesn't fit the bill then get stuck with them for the long term.
And there's always the academy, maybe there's some in there who are close to the step up?

They're likely taken those prices from transfer market. The King and Aarons ones are fairly accurate but clubs want roughly double the quotes for the others.

King is an obvious squad upgrade, Sarr doesn't play in the position we need.

Sarr would also cost about 3 times as much
