Keane + Mina, lets be positive and say we could get £60mil for them.

Maybe £160k in wages as well? Or more?

At right sided centre back we go with Holgate and add a top claas u21 player to develop / rotate.

At left sided centre back we add a left footer as starter who Branthwaits can alternate with.

If we brought in Kamara (Marseille) and Gabriel (Lille) then we would be looking a lot better already with a massive amount of potential growth.

Holgate / Kamara
Gabriel / Branthwaite

Looks like a very strong defence compared with what we have now.
I'm not sure our defense is as bad as people make out, all our issues lie in midfield, no defense could cope when each and every midfield player in front of them have no interest in playing football.

Dom should not be expected to carry the load in the event Richy gets hurt, as he is not a player who will make goals out of nothing like Richy can. But we have two 23 year old strikers who have scored 15 goals a piece. I'm not worrying about that position in the slightest. If we add a winger and CM who chip in 5+ goals each and provide better service, this point is moot.

Imagine how bad it would look if we put a new RB and 2 brand new CBs from foren leagues into it!

I think since the restart there's been this huge sway of opinion and suddenly everybody's talking about the midfield. I mentioned about 6 weeks ago that we needed 2 central midfielders and people laughed and said no way, and now everybody's saying it, and some saying we need more than that. The midfield is 100% our biggest issue - it has been for years - but I do think people have got so obsessed with it recently that they've sort of forgotten the other issues we have. I think there would be a few nasty surprises if we just got 2 midfielders and nothing else, because there'd still be some glaring issues (and some new ones which the changes created).

I said it the other day.

We have concerns in goal, at RB, Keane as good as he's been is capable of falling off a cliff, injury concerns regarding Mina, possibly now Holgate?

I love Gomes, but we have a midfield who cant tackle and doesn't create much.

Theo Walcott is without question our best wide midfielder, as good as he is at stretching play, he's kinda limited.

And up top we have Rico and DCL, but with Kean who looks badly out of sorts.

I still think a quality CM, RB and RW solves some issues, but certainly not all.

Yep, totally agree with that.

Midfield is the obvious area. Only Gordon of all the midfielders has shown any real desire over a few games.

But for me even if we signed a new midfield that clicked from day 1 we would still need a Right back. Theres no point fixing the midfield if opposition can just launch the ball at their left winger to charge at Coleman or Kenny.

Massive weak area which will be an achilles heel next season if not fixed.

Also Mina (i like) as a defender needs to be on the pitch. Defence is meant to be fairly settled with the odd rotation but with all his injuries its a major concern.

Id move Mina on for that reason.

On Keane, if we sort midfield and start to push up the pitch then it becomes a high line. We all know what that means.

Id sell Keane while his stock is relatively high.

We have Holgate and Branthwaite...add two more in there and we may start to evolve. Its the ideal time now with it being Ancelottis first summer.

There are tenuous links to Roca from Espanyol. Definitely one I'd like us to look at. Highly rated and is young enough and mobile too. They got relegated so fee will have dropped but can see a few Spanish clubs interested.
Don’t know how he would handle the physicality in England, but he can definitely pass the ball forward.
