We need a goalie and a new kid on the block to join our young stars

Fischer
Bruma
Januzai

Any one of those, all can play on the left and centre

We have so many options (in martinez eyes) ahead of these players anyway...McGeady /McAleny and Gibson arent going to play consistently and Mirallas/Naismith dont fit into his plans...best to move them on and bring in better quality in Jan.

With 4 players out of contract and hopefully howard out the door in the summer it would be too many players to shift in one go i think.

I agree in principle Zat, but my point is that it is very hard to find the quality that will push us on in Jan without spending £20mil+ - which we won't. And even in the unlikely event we did, you have to take other things into account - e.g. being able to settle in the middle of the season.

Dont forget this is the Euros this year. A lot of bench players are going to want to play to try to get into their squads instead of sitting on the bench. Would be awesome to see a hugely cheeky loan bid for Isco.

I don't know who would say no faster the club or player. Isco gets games for Real Madrid. He's not going out in loan

He's got 3 options i think:

A--Move on players in Jan for fees and bring in top quality and loans.

B-- Keep those players till the summer then offload them (mass exodus)

C--Keep the players past the summer and have unnecessary wages going on players he doesnt want or cant get into the side...

Also, Yarmolenko was £15mil so i'd hope we would have that and money from sales...that would give us £20mil+ and i think we need to spend.

Januzaj cant get in the side...

Fischer could be top notch but had a bad injury which apparently has cut his pace...

Bruma is someone id have gone for off Gala a year or two ago but doesnt seem to have developed.

Apparently has conceded 0.75 goals per game and is 6ft 4.5 inches...

Only 3 caps for Ukraine though...
Considering the current Ukraine number 1 is Shakovsy (Spelling) the Kiev keeper who is nearly 40 I'd imagine and perhaps the worse keeper I've ever seen in action then this doesn't fill me with optimism.

Edit: he retired from international duty in 2012 and was replaced by Pyatov the 2nd worse keeper I ever seen fills me with less optimism.

A - Very very hard to get top quality in - plus destabilising the squad. One player needed in Jan - two max.
B - No need for there to be a mass exodus. I genuinely can see Osman getting another year, rightly or wrongly. That would mean three possibly four squad players leaving. Not exactly en mass.
C - Agree there.

But we also have no idea just how much our bid for Yarmolenko was - it was pure speculation really. We may have £20mil to spend, but we'd get more value for that £20mil in the summer. That is my view and, actually, it definitely is that of RM - who says it whenever he is asked about the Jan window.

As it stands, if we can ship McGeady out in Jan and get a good player in a position we need (ideally, a player to fill that 'Kone' role if he falls out of form/or down to fatigue) I think we'll be well set.

A-- With the Euros there could be a few players not getting games who we could sign + also teams who are out of Europe + the odd one whose value will keep going up as they improve.

B-- McAleny, Osman,Hibbert,McGeady,Pienaar and Oviedo cant get near the team and really shouldnt either. Thats 6 players already and if you add Gibson (who should be sold if hes fit) as well as Mirallas who seems to be off then its 8 players in 2 windows.

If we sign a keeper then one keeper will also be off so 9 players and thats not counting Naismith.

Personally i think its just a matter of when they all go, this or next window. Not sure its clever to move out 5 or 6 in one window...think it should be staggered and balanced with a top signing.

For the LW/LM position i think its going to cost big money but could be the catapult we need to turn wins into draws and boost morale of our young stars.

Martinez could develop these players into the stars they should be, they all have the tools in the box

I'd say Oviedo, Osman and Gibson may all get extensions, rightly or wrongly.

I'm not dismissing your point mate, just you do seem to love the idea of a good squad turn-around, when in all reality the team needs one or two quality additions - like you've pointed out there - a top goalkeeper (as top as we can get) and a 'marquee' attacking/winger signing who is proven quality.

But it's the transfer thread and there's nothing wrong with what you're saying.

Don't encourage him mate, bloody hell.

Im just going off the "2 players for every position" logic with the u21s then pushing in as well...

If we did sign a couple of players including a winger then alot of these could be ranked as 5th choice or lower :)

Just wasting money i think when it could be pooled for one or two signings and wages for new contracts.

Hope martinez is bluffing about jan...amazing we almost got martial on loan a couple of seasons ago.
