Why are we after Sam Byram anyways? I mean, he's a pretty decent young and versatile player, but surely both right wing and right back positions are covered now with Deulofeu and Coleman and I've no idea where he could fit. Paying 8 mil for someone who's gonna sit on the bench is not the best idea either, is it...
Let's think about this for a minute. We did literally the same thing with Funes Mori, and it's a good thing we did. If Coleman goes down, who is his cover? Browning? Lennon? Hibbert? A talented, young, versatile right back sounds good to me. Quality depth can't be ignored, and right now, we don't have that at right back.

I would sell Naismith and mirallas and mcgeady if we can next summer.

Maybe get around 18 million for them plus 130k a week of the wage bill.

Keep our young stars , can we get stones to sign a new contract? Barkley contracts runs out in 2018 so he will need a new contact soon and Lukaku contract runs out in 2019 so we can play hardball with him. Stones is the big one but his contract runs out in 2019 as well so we are protected with these three to be honest. No blackmailing on running contracts down.

But we won't be able to get them to sign new contracts if we keep playing hardball and don't win anything so we have these for another season after this before we will have to consider selling if they don't sign a new contract.

A new keeper is a must, a young natural RB to cover for coleman. Another striker as we don't have any coming through and a proper left winger.

Stones
Jagielka
Mori
Galloway
Browning
Holgate

I think we have other areas to focus on first. However, jags is 33 now and so we really need Galloway to keep progressing and push Mori at LCB. Likewise we need Holgate to push Stones at RCB...not immediately but over the next two seasons.

think we are still another centre half short this season so that would be my priority. mori and Galloway have played well but are looking at bit jaded and maybe the demands of the prem will take their toll. jags and baines are not getting any younger.

Well, for the wages add on Hibbert,Oviedo,Osman and Pienaar who are all out of contract in the summer. Total guess but say, £160k a week there in wages.

Galloway,Stones,Lukaku,Barkley and Deulofeu all need new 5 year contracts so thats an extra £30k+ available for each of them. Of course then others like McCarthy and Coleman will want improved terms too as there would be a gulf...thats the main priority for me...extending the contracts.

For them to extend they will want to see progress on the pitch and new signings.

I agree about Naismith,Mirallas and McGeady but would ship out Gibson and McAleny also. I would not wait until summer, i would do this in January. This is because we already have at least 4 players off in summer and also because we need to build a pot for Martinez.

Keeper i think we would need to wait till summer but with the money generated in Jan we should be looking at Bernardo Silva, Breel Embolo or Inaki Williams (or similar) as in the summer their values will increase, especially Silva's. Would be a major statement of intent signing Silva.

Id hope Martinez will enquire on Butland and Karius (or similar) and in fact it may be beneficial to bring in Karius now so he has time to adapt in 2016 and take over as 1st choice.

He needs to move out players in Jan or we will be left with 9 or 10 to move on in the summer which is a mass exodus. He also needs to make a big signing to improve us but also to show Stones etc this is the place to be.

That's true, but does someone aged 22 who has loads of potential really want to sit on Everton's bench and wait additional 3-5 years before Coleman turns crap? I doubt it.

Perhaps the keeper Lodigin or Witzel.

Seems strange as they dont have any players who id expect Martinez to go for...
Maybe gent have a young player martinez is interested in. That being said prem teams send scouts all over the place so in reality it's probably not much to think about

That much of a squad turnaround in the middle of a season is mental, Zat. McGeady may move on in Jan, and possibly Kev if the right offer is made.

And the value of the players you mentioned will be lower in the summer, it always is as January all the prices go up. Nobody wants to lose their best player at any time, but especially not half way through a season.

January will be used to boost the squad if needed depending on injuries and potentially 1 or 2 sales. That's it.
