I rate the lad.

He has been very unlucky with injuries.

Will prove a very good PL striker.

Better than Valencia don't know why they don't play him. Offers something different to Lukaku, and probably has a better touch too.

So you'd rather we play two defensive midfielders like last season in McCarthy and Barry? Absolutely pointless if you ask me.
I would like for Koeman to find the right balance in the team. Martinez didn't, and that made our good CBs look sh**e. That team you suggested is set up to attack, not defend. If we play with two attacking fullbacks I think we need two CMs that is capable to defend well to cover that space behind the fullbacks and stop the counterattack in midfield.

Blimey, Shane Long shouts still.

He's a good, solid starter for a mid-table prem team; he's no-where near the standard required for a top 4 team. We want top-4 standard players. Not Shane Long.

It's a gradual progression though. We don't become a top 4 team overnight as we have money and a new manager. It takes time. We organically need to improve the squad, both in terms of depth and quality. That will see the desired effect on the results. With the money at the disposal of all of Everton's peers it will take a couple of seasons at least to get that top 4 place, and a couple more seasons to cement it. There's no immediacy in this.

So. Is long an improvement on Kone & Niasse? Yes.
Would Long be a good signing? Yes.
Is Long a top-4 player? No.

Don't be quite so short sighted.
