You wouldn't swap a trophy and Europe for one league place? Granted, 7th and 8th are hardly terrible form, our post Christmas form had mirrored their pre Christmas form, I'd even argue our form has been catastrophically bad before and usually is.

I'd take a trophy and Europe over that. Surely you would?

We're the best team in the city. I know you live in Skem which is dead wool but if you were local you'd understand that being able to pipe them down with this makes the summer a happier place.

We've played some damn good football with Pienaar and Jelly in the side. Wembley was a disaster, but it's really the only thing that has soured me on Everton in a long time. Truth is, we could have packed it in after that, but we've been superb since.

I'm a glass half full kind of guy. Looking forward to next year.

I only have to look back to about November tbh mate, as good as our finish has been, some of the earlier stuff is amongst the worse I've seen and I couldnt see a way out of it.

I love how the RS constantly talk in terms of how close they are to winning the league. 'We've finished 8th, disaster, so we probably won't win the league next year or the year after...' Haha.

my perspective on this.

i don't really care about the league cup. i would be made up if we won it just because moyes needs a trophy, but if we won it two years in a row the second time would barely mean a thing to me. if they had won the FA cup, I wouldn't be all that happy about our league finish, but i think we really can say we had the better season.

of course they'll blame the suarez ban and the FA, its too bad the whole world is really out to get them

Personally I don't see the problem with enjoying finishing above them. Any fan of any team would enjoy beating their local rivals, especially if it hasn't happened much recently, they've spent a f*ckload of money for the last 10-15 years when we've spent nowt, and they love to crow when the shoes on the other foot. It's nothing to do with bitterness, it's just about local bragging rights. Nothing wrong with it.

Tbh, I would take a cup win and EL next season over the league placing, but 'where'd you finish in the league again??' wins all arguments this summer...

"How many cup finals did you get to?"

"How many trophies did you win?"

"Didn't we tw@t you when it mattered - like in the semi final?"

"Didn't we turn you over at your place?"

"Didn't we own you at our place when your manager cacked it?"

7th is nowhere...absolutely nowhere. You know the club is starting to sink to the level of a Stoke or Fulham when people start crowing about consistently finishing there and looking down on Liverpool from the lofty height of one place above in a one-legged man arse kicking contest.

IMO, we have about two more years to make the Great Leap forward and become one of the set in stone 6 competitors for the CL places and domestic cups or we're lost for another generation.

1995 to 2012 with nothing won. It's an outrage for a club like this. And at this rate of *progress* we'll be clocking up 25-30 years before we get our hands on silverware.

You know the way we used to take the piss about City and Newcastle seeing their last cup parades in sepia-tinted Pathe News reels? That's us now.

everytime we finish ahead they still have the upper hand, 2005 we got 4th they overshadow us by winning the CL, and now we finish 7th, they win the carling cup and take away the europa league place that we should of got.

beating them is good consolation tho and a nice finish.
