The way I see it, is that Wayne Rooney is a global name. Football fans and non football fans around the world know who he is. It's a signal of intent and has the potential to increase the Everton brand worldwide more than any signing we have ever made.

On the field I have my reservations, but still think he has something to offer. He's an intelligent player and hasn't always relied on pace to be prolific.

If we line up in Derby with Rooney, Barkley, Baines and Davies and win. The victory is gonna be all the more sweet. So of course we should get behind him and be positive about what he can achieve here.

I replied with a picture of them burning a Gerrard shirt. The reply to that was 'that was a bluenose who burnt the shirt'.

Didn't have the heart to tell him the picture was from sky news and their own rawk thread
