First bit of the interview with Gylfi over here. He doesn´t fancy the Viking Clap that much now:

Gylfi puts the potential use of the Viking Clap at Goodison Park to bed:

‘‘They can do it but I wont be orchestrating it. I think it has become a little tiresome except when during international matches and done by the Iceland supporters.“

‘‘I am not a big fan of it being done at the clubs. Of course it has a special connection to the Euros and the spark is there between the national team and the Iceland supporters. Outside of that I let others do what they want with it.“

Another bit of the interview with Gylfi:

Gylfi on the Twitter photo:

The photo was taken during one of his two trials at the club at the start of the century.

‘‘I went twice on trial at Everton when I was younger. It‘s probably been 14 years but 14 years later I finally earned a contract with Everton,“ he said.

‘‘The coaches were happy with my performance during my first stint and invited me back. In the meantime the whole setup in the youth department went through wholesome changes. I did travel with the Everton youth team to Germany but it was obvious from the start that the new coaches had no interest in me whatsoever. So sadly it ended there. It‘s great to be here finally now. I am thrilled and feel very proud today. It‘s hard not to be when joining a club with the stature of Everton.“

Gylfi on his potential position at Everton:

‘‘Whether it‘s in the number 10 role or with two eights in the middle, it doesnt really matter. Paul Clement, let me opperate on the left side at Swansea but I had the freedom to come into the middle. I am most comfortable in the middle but whether it‘s as a number 10 or an 8, it doesnt matter,“ said Gylfi.

Big interview with Gylfi in Iceland today. I'll provide some translation on some of the topics, including one regarding that photo that did the rounds on Twitter last night.

Hi mate, please stick around. Fan of this.

Can you confirm his middle name of Þór translates to Thor?

Hmm as a number 8 might be quite interesting with Gana and Morgan/Davies if we go proper 4-3-3 one day?

Oh ffs.

I have only just got used to a False 9 and a Number 10.

Two 8's now.

Gylfi on fearing that Everton might look elsewhere

‘‘It‘s been a long time coming and finally all is sorted. Now I can start to focus on the season ahead.“

‘‘It‘s been strange and I have had to be patient. It‘s strange going to training, knowing that‘s the only thing you‘re going to do and you arent going to play any matches. The length of time it took to get this sorted was the hardest part.“

‘‘Luckily the manager, the owners and the chairman at Everton have been very patient during the process and didn´t back out of the deal.“

‘‘There were many days that I thought something might come up to scupper the deal and Everton would decide to look elsewhere. We all know this process to a very long time, a much longer time than expected.“
