If this is true and Barkley is on £40k a week, you have to remember that he signed that when he was pretty young (20 years old?). At that time, £40k would have been more than fair.
Also, I'm sure we've discussed the possibility of a new contract with him the past year or two and haven't been able to agree on terms. Barkley was probably banking on having a break-out year before this point so he could cash in (or move on to a Champions League club). It hasn't really worked out for him but he's still got his heart set on it.

Klopp has won two domestic titles and one domestic Cup. He has not won a title or national cup competition for 5 years. Koeman has won 3 domestic titles with two different teams. To compare the German and Dutch leagues, German teams have appeared in a European Cup/Champs League final 26 times, while the Dutch have appeared 20 times, not much difference. Koeman has also won two domestic Cup competitions, and that being in two different countries (one in Spain with Valencia).
Klopp has won 3 titles/cups, while Koeman has won 5.

Rom at the least is going to double his wages. What we have going for us is that he really does want to start every match. So if delay the transfer maybe Man Utd or Chelsea find someone else and it gives him pause before wanting to leave.
Keep in mind wages exploded with the new TV contract. Which is why you see guys like Bolasie and Willams raking it in. If Levy didn't shoot down our plane we'd be paying Sissoko 100k/week right now.
