We just needed a few tweaks and sat on our laurels.
Within a few years the Old Lady was showing her age and a decade later she was unfit for purpose whilst other clubs were sitting in state of the art arenas.
The club has never recovered its eminence since.

It's very easy to blame our demise on Heysel but Liverpool were hit by a longer ban yet they recovered from it. They kept a successful side. Admittedly not as successful as in the 80s but they didn't fall apart like Everton did.
