Undoubtedly Distin is better than Alcaraz in this season.
But Distin is getting to 36, I'm afraid his performance would drop in the next season.
And Alcaraz is a decent player, in season 2012-2013, he did 2.4 tackle & 2.8 interception per match, which is higher than Distin.
And although Distin is in the 2nd squad, I would given him most of the match time before christmas, and gradually reduce his match time after that, similar to the case of Neville(won't let him play the wigan game though).

If we're getting rid of Fellaini, we need to replace him with an AM or a striker, simple. We need to go for a box-to-box player in CM without selling Fellaini, hence bidding for Fer, Ojija-Ofoe etc..

We will see how good Martinez is in pre season regarding having players ready and FIT. This is important, we have a trip to Austria and America, the players need to come back in peak condition because our rivals are strengthening massively.

That is one of the most detailed reasonings i've ever seen. You nearly had me convinced. Sadly he's badly defensive Henderson.

Really, do you want to stick with that?? Another Stat for the 2012-2013 season is that Alcaraz only played 8 games.

I spoke to a few Wigan supporters about Alcaraz, they are more upset about the possibility of losing Emerson Boyce than him.

Please people, go away, have a think about Alcaraz, watch him play and come back and ask yourself " Do I want a crap centrehalf because he is free?? "

Alcaraz is decent. He's strong and has good positional sense. No slouch, either. Perfectly acequate cover, although what we actually need is a CB who's better than Distin.

Keep everyone and get a quality forward, or sell Fellaini and get a forward and a CM, and we have a good squad to work with. They'll know how to play together, and Martinez can gradually develop from the solid foundation we have. 3-4 immediate changes to our regular starting eleven would be a mistake.
