Everton FC sale - speculation on timings

I put forward then, the Kenwright did not wish to see this happen, and sold before any permanent damage was done to Everton.

And that Moshiri popped up at the right time.

The two issues are totally unrelated mate.

Philip Green's future problems over whatever has happened at BHS have no relevance to Everton FC, and Everton FC will never be implicated in any of Green's affairs, as quite simply, he never has been a shareholder of the club.

I find that my proposition speculated - is more realistic. Forced sale.

Not for the reasons that would be publicly stated.

Correction.

Direct shareholder in the club.

and/or that we know of.

So basically people have gone "PHILLIP GREEN WRECKED A BUSINESS" and simply assumed there must be some Everton connection?

Good morning Esk. Thanks for the correction.

Do you not agree with me that its important that we examine every facet of the clubs sale. Not just selectively view it?

I think it important given our long history of ZERO investment into the club.

It's a very simple transaction, Bill, Jon and Earl were looking to sell shares each for different reasons. Several interested parties made offers in recent months, probably over the last year, and ultimately Mr Moshiri was the preferred buyer.

It has nothing to do with Green's potential problems elsewhere.

Why not?

Its been speculated for years that he was involved in the club. Even if it was not public.

Plus he's a well known user of offshoring.

No - there's no need for a correction. Please point to me the evidence that Green had any beneficial ownership of Everton Football club.

It is impossible to prove due to the opaque use of Virgin Island holding companies and suspected proxies.

Can you hold shares indirectly?

It'd be very difficult to prove I imagine.

It's very easy to hold shares indirectly. However directors of all UK companies have to disclose their shareholdings in the companies they are directors of. Bill Kenwright and Robert Earl declared their beneficial ownership each year. If, as is being suggested by some including @bizzaro the beneficial ownership was actually held by Green, then criminal offences have been committed.

But as he never has had beneficial ownership of Everton football club, it is an entirely spurious discussion.

All the more reason to be glad that Moshiri is now our new overlord.

It's not impossible at all, had he owned the shares, the club would have said "Philip Green owner of x shares through a BVI entity" - instead they said Bill Kenwright owner of x shares (direct and through Billl Kenwright Limited) and Robert Earl through BCR Sports, a BVI entity.

Game over.
