Everton FC sale - speculation on timings

It's very easy to hold shares indirectly. However directors of all UK companies have to disclose their shareholdings in the companies they are directors of. Bill Kenwright and Robert Earl declared their beneficial ownership each year. If, as is being suggested by some including @bizzaro the beneficial ownership was actually held by Green, then criminal offences have been committed.

But as he never has had beneficial ownership of Everton football club, it is an entirely spurious discussion.

Thats the point though isn't it Esk.

Philip Green used his wife in order to pay his family the largest dividend in British corporate history. His wife was a proxy.

He doesn't have to declare something if its in another persons name. By definition a proxy.

The form that @magicjuan spoke of is right there.

A lack of transparency is always going to make people like me speculate.

Thanks.

All the more reason to be glad that Moshiri is now our new overlord.

I am sure that we are on an upward and more transparent and appropriate ownership under Mr Moshiri.

As I've said earlier I am thankful that a more clear structure has been brought in by Moshiri.

Not if you read the speculation about the Virginia Island holdings.

There appears too many links between Earl and Green to dismiss it.

Also look at the pattern. Green took £800 million in 14 years out of BHS and the argument is whilst he put money in what he took out far exceeded what was put in. In rent. Dividends and loan fees. Look at the fact that Vibrac loans and others were took out in the Virgin Islands. There's always been a suspicion that Green is somehow linked to this.

Going back to EFC the pattern is there was no net investment in EFC during the 15 years and whilst no obvious extraction of money by Green is seen. The unknowns behind these Virgin Island loans which had interest attached to then meant someone was making money out if EFC. Which I think was Green.

I'm also suspicious about the timings of the sale. Given what scrutiny Green is under and how it was Earl that disappeared first.

His wife's ownership of Arcadia was totally transparent. She owned Arcadia through Taveta as described earlier. This was because as a resident of Monaco she was not liable to tax. Philip Green would have been liable as a UK tax payer.

But it shows he's got form for these sort of complex maneuvers

Hey Esk. This is gonna sound really weird, and is miles off topic, but I find myself reminded of you on a daily basis whenever I pass Esk Street off the dock rd/Derby Rd.

Anything to do with your username?

Anyway, apologies. Back to the conspiracy theories lads....

As he says, it's coincidence. It's like he hopes to find a connectiin and drag the club down with Green. I don't understand his purpose for all if this, or his point.

I think it's more to do with the unravelling of Green's affairs and the club's name being mentioned. Would anyone be that surprised should that happen?
