The fact this made national newspapers is just beyond a joke!
Have any of them actually bothered to publish the object of their complaint? Not that I’ve seen & they won’t, because any sensible reader would say how pathetic.
They just want to blow it up like it was some kind of hate crime! Like some vile scene you might see in Ukraine, big skinhead thugs punching innocent gays. It’s pathetic.

I know the argument some are making is that it's not technically a homophobic slur because "Rent Boy" just means "young male prostitute", but it's generally accepted that most "Rent Boys" are younger male men doing favours for older men, so of course it's going to have that connotation
Personally it's a chant I've never liked and I wouldn't mind seeing it go by the wayside to be honest
That being said, considering a prominent member of one of Chelsea's Supporter Clubs kicked up a stink recently by objecting to a banner at Stamford Bridge that supported gay fans, they should probably sort their own house out first before pointing fingers at others

I dunno. I guess the rationale for calling Chelsea rent boys is belittling them for doing anything for money, even a self abasing act such as being gay. So in that case it is homophobic. So yes, it should stop. I'm sure that there are many many other insults to throw at them.

Whether its right or not, I have heard a lot worse over the years. Back to the days of Amokachi and Super Kev, we sung songs about our own players that now would be banned. I just think everything is too PC these days, in every form of life. Soon we will all just be gagged

Hoo boy. This is like the VAR decision of chants. Open to corrupt interpretation. If they want to label it homophobic? Fine. Should fans be punished for obviously not understanding this “interpretation” of the chant? Lol.

I'm massively offended at this, on behalf of the S&M community.
As far as I can make out, the only purpose of this rent boy chant is to mock opposition supporters and / or players. In the minds of the singers, the mockery must lie in same gender sex being pathetic / nasty / weak.

When first reading about this, I'd have been surprised if anyone had been offended by this, but, a quick check on https://www.facebook.com/groups/rainbowtoffees/ tells me that I was wrong
It's going to be hard to not automatically sing "Chelsea Rent boys" at them, but, given at least some of our own are plainly against it, then it's probably time to stop
