Everton annual accounts

He's got money to spend and doesn't want to spend it all when the prices are inflated, I don't think that's difficult to grasp.

He didn't seem to have a problem overpaying in August on deadline day when Wigan knew we'd just sold Fellaini. Player values can depend hugely on several factors and not just time of year.

Wrong use of words. I should of said 'added' to the squad rather than strengthened. When everyone's back we're going to have one hell of a squad. Take the quality and the same amount of players we've had out out of the red sh*te and let's see if they'd still be knocking around 4th.

They smashed us 4-0 2 days ago, with no defence or midfield, cos they dont loan Strikers, they spend actual money on them.

We didnt add anything, we lost 2 players long term, we have 4 loan players, but lets wait till the Summer, the Summer will make everything all right.

It's a good question really - where is the proof that values are inflated? Mata would have cost £37m regardless, can't think of many January transfers in the last few years that were ridiculous prices. Coutinho and Sturridge went for market value you could argue and made a massive difference for that lot; it just seems a complete myth the whole thing to me.

Values are inflated at 10pm on transfer window day.

We lost Gibson and Kone for the Season, then we sold Jelavic, we loaned an injured striker and bought a Winger, currently most of the squad is either injured or coming back from injury, I personally dont consider that being stronger.

...and that is the bottom line in both senses really.

You use the window if you're weakened and you have cash to get reinforcements in. I really dont know what the talk is with 'summer'. Gibson is and always will be a sicknote; Lukkau is not ours to hold on to. Ergo we should have been getting their replacements in now.

The talk about summer is bogus...deep down even those saying 'Roberto's saving the cash waiting to spend big in the summer' know it's likely to be a let down as it always is with these clowns in charge.

Coutinho - £8m. Sturridge - £12m.

Two good transfers, brought in in January, £20m combined... and that's from a club that's minted and clubs usually milk dry.

Can someone explain to me why Everton are somehow exempt from doing similar, given our blatant need for an attacking mid and a striker ourselves?

Maybe the people who accuse others of wearing a tin foil hat can tell us where the cash coming in is going to if not on debt repayment or increase in wages?

We're scraping the barrel when holding them up as an example of a club who do transfers well.

We've got McGeady and Traore in, there's you attacking mid and striker.

McGeady is more of a winger, and Traore is on loan.

Could we not spend decent money on players seeing as we have a player trade surplus of at least £9m for this season alone ?

And i think you clearly misunderstood his post if you think he was using them as an example of a club who do transfers well. The point that they normally dont was exactly why he brought them up. If they can get good deals, why can't we ?

Another question - Martinez targeted Fernando "as well as" McCarthy in the summer. So in August he identified the need for a defensive midfielder.

Gibson has been injured seriously since then and we have no cover whatsoever for McCarthy and Barry if there's an injury.

What's changed, other than a lot of money going into the coffers? Given Fernando would have cost around £6m I believe.

Since then, we've had many injuries and we were unsure if we'd be challenging for continental qualification this year. So surely the argument to strength now is much, much greater than it was in August?

Too many questions, no convincing answers. I refuse to believe a manager would turn down funds given the position Martinez is in, unless he's utterly mad, and targets are available as other clubs are proving.

For what, a nominal fee and a loan!? That's hardly backing a manager in a transfer window - that's what you'd expect a League 1 club to do in a transfer window.

And I'm clearly talking in addition to those - McGeady is a winger, Traore is injured and a loan. We have a dire need for a fit striker and a spark of creativity in the centre of midfield to take the weight off Barkley.

If Liverpool, with all their financial might, can negotiate such deals in January, surely a club that is not expected to splash the cash can shrewdly negotiate this month too?

Personally I think the money is all put in a high interest account with the rest of our 'ringfenced' money. We must have about a decade of interest on tens of millions of Pound Sterling.

A couple more disappointing transfer windows is all we need suffer then we'll be splashing the cash like Man City. Woo Hoo!
