BTW, that ^^^ has triggered about 20 PMs to my inbox saying it was spot on.

The general tone seems to be that it's a joke that anything now becomes cause for an attack on the manager. I half expect him to be blamed for the Port Talbot steel works closure.

why do people pm u and say ur spot on instead of posting it in the forums I wonder. Are they afraid of the abuse they are going to get by the Martinez out brigade maybe? They can be quite angry I have found out.

'Wembley' will no doubt make another appearance. :coffee:

I do agree with Davek that Martinez is being judged against a narrative that other managers have not been judged by.

But, for me, it is the solid body of (PL) evidence, here, and at Wigan, that has me convinced that he has a blind spot that he just will not seem to address. Even when, occasionally, it appears he has done. Chelsea QF for example.

It is infuriating. And shows a major flaw.

You see I disagree, I dont want him out for not finishing 4th.

I want him out for finishing 11th, TWICE.

Ooh, Sir...Sir!!

*waves hands at teacher like the smartest kid in the class

How can a manager be applauded for buying great players but not slated for taking that team to 12th and winning 4 home games??

It's quite frankly bizarre the thoughts of some in here.

Because we've done dead well in the cups or something. Except for when we got battered by City

Surely he's being judged against the current PL environment, his results relative to the resources available to him, and his contemporary management peer group?

There's no relevance to the performance of previous Everton managers

Two of his golden boys Lukaku and stones have both now shown they want to move on. Del can't get a game so he probably isn't too happy either. Barkley I assume has more loyalty to the club but how long before he sees these lads moving on and decides it's time for him too.

If he can't even make top half with what he's got what evidence points towards him being able to get CL with supposedly better players?

If these young players do leave, and RM stays what is he going to do then about building a team.

More meaningless rhetoric, RM less words and more action please.
