I think what's thrown me and a few others is Sevilla winning the EL last year, but they also finished 7th. Barcelona won the Cup, but also had a place in the CL, so I am guessing their place would have gone to 7th (Sevilla) but Sevilla already had a place from winning the EL.
So Spain had the top 4 + Sevilla (EL winners) in the CL this season. 5 teams.
And 5th and 6th in the EL as normal (6th get Europe as there is no League Cup in Spain from what I can see). 2 teams

Sounds like it is different in England this season because Leicester are outside of the top 7, unlike Sevilla/Real Madrid last season.
Yes, Sevilla have triggered the 5+2 rule in Spain the last couple of seasons as they won the EL and finished in a EL qualifying spot.
Leicester being outside the EL qualifying spots (top 7) is a different case.
