The thing is, when the inevitable job losses and home repossessions come about as a result of this, those that voted for it still won't see it or admit it. They'll still blame immigrants, or the EU, or the next convenient scapegoat, so nothing will change.

I'm sorry but that's entirely wrong.

Firstly there's no longer any mandate for this or any UK Government to remain in the EU. That is crystal clear.

Secondly we now have minimal influence within the EU and we should expect no favours as a result of this decision.

The EU will now be determined to make an example of the UK to demonstrate the folly of other member states trying to leave. The EU will now do everything within its powers to stop other member states from leaving, making post EU life as difficult as possible for the UK.

This is a disastrous day for the UK, the implications of which we can not even pretend to understand at this time.
