Jesus, that's one heck of a game of poker with the future of the continent. Incredibly irresponsible.

Perhaps it is. Certainly the leave campaign didn't carry that as an aim so it would take the EU asking us to the table. Who knows what will happen, we may not get that invitation and no one else votes to leave in Europe.

I just hope we get the chance to though.

Probably a very weak EU financially. Other EU members are going to have to put a lot more money into the pot.

Which is the domino effect coming into play. All of a sudden other countries have to pay more money, people aren't happy, vote to leave and what happens happens. Or the EU see this potentially happen and beg us not to go .

No, not ballot by ballot, but there'll be plenty of analysis I'm sure.

How do they do it though Ste? Genuine question...

If it's how they do the standard polls, the last two major have been well off the actual outcome - so I'm skeptical on their analysis of finer detailing...

EU President Donald Tusk says that group is "determined to keep our unity at 27."

In short then "We're worried the rest will follow the UK"

To reform our position? EU won't want us to go so now we are in a much stronger position to challenge them to get the power or at least standing in there.

I'm sorry but that's entirely wrong.

Firstly there's no longer any mandate for this or any UK Government to remain in the EU. That is crystal clear.

Secondly we now have minimal influence within the EU and we should expect no favours as a result of this decision.

The EU will now be determined to make an example of the UK to demonstrate the folly of other member states trying to leave. The EU will now do everything within its powers to stop other member states from leaving, making post EU life as difficult as possible for the UK.

This is a disastrous day for the UK, the implications of which we can not even pretend to understand at this time.

So why did you vote for something that's more likely to be terrible than not then?
Trying to understand why you'd voluntarily vote to throw your country under the bus and see what happens.

So they can keep them immigrants out, taking all the jobs.
Irony is there will probably be free movement anyway and less jobs now.

Yes and this is why I feel unfortunately that England will be treated harshly and made an example of. Extremely bad precedent.

Perhaps but were they voting with a hazy memory of the past or with vision for the future?

Whether you're 16 or 90, you can only really have a sentiment about the future, the decision is made though and people will have to make it work now. That's the unknown part, how people will react to the new challenges and find ways of overcoming them.

I voted with my kids and granddaughter in mind......I believe we have given them back control of their own futures.....

Fair enough, personally those figures don't surprise me, from the build up over the last couple of months and certainly from my own experience that seems to be the trend. You'd have to ask a post election analyst mate, I'm sure there's going to be plenty available over the next few months!

The chief of Germany's foreign trade association, Anton Boerner, said on Friday Britain's vote to leave the European Union was catastrophic for Britain, Europe and Germany.
"That is a catastrophic result for Britain and also for Europe and Germany, especially the German economy," Boerner told Reuters. "It is disturbing that the oldest democracy in the world turns its back on us."

Great start to all these wonderful trade relationships you are going to build.
A couple of months ago Cameron went to Brussels to try and renegotiate concessions for Britain in the EU. He came back with a lollipop and a jar of mayo.

Agreed.

Absolutely this .

I'm staggered by the lack of understanding of the situation both politically and economically weighed against what seems to me an irrational fear of an impending Turkish horde .

The market is absolutely crashing £122bn already , the pound is at a 31 year low , manufacturing has an horrific future and the house market faces at best uncertainty before politically we face the almost certain collapse of the union . This is potentially catastrophic .
