we are not falling into recession or going off that cliff the experts of Remain stated though are we?

I didn't predict that Joey, however at present there is no sign of us falling into an immediate recession.

When we leave though, well that depends on the deal and I'm not convinced we have the right people sorting it out.

If the 'misunderstanding' is accepted by both men, why do you have a problem with it. Did you see what some people called Trump before his election........

I am allowed to think he's a buffoon, Pete.

I have a problem with some of the folk we are sending out to the EU at present to represent us, including Davis, illustrated by his error in judgement before the select committee.

These are exploratory talks between two sets of buffoons. Remember, negotiations cannot begin until article 50 is activated.....

Except that the two baffoons are Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union and one of three European Parliament negotiators. All that can result from this meeting is a hardening of attitudes on both sides.

But then that satisfies the narrative, as both can blame the other and get on with the hard brexit they both want, which is a complete lose/lose situation and should be stopped at all costs.

You're not convinced. So what type of CV would convince you......

One that demonstrates pragmatism, negotiation skills and less ideological conservatism would go some way towards calming my fears.

OH, and compromise.

It is of course a great pleasure to me that all the little bits will be left to the civil service, but the tone is being set by the politicians, who I fear have the wrong interests at heart and lack some of the skills required.

Growth slowing
Job vacancies falling
Borrowing - record high
retail sales - up
Inflation - up
Likely direction of interest rates - up

By the way, back in 1994 we were one of three European countries to oppose Verhofstadt's election to Commission President despite him having the backing of Germany, France and the Repblic of Ireland.

All they are doing is setting the scene, organising potential dates, attendees etc, it's just preparation stuff, stop panicking......

That's the job of the civil service. Aren't these meeting about establishing what we are actually going to negotiate? Taking soundings from each other to see what's achievable? Which is going to be very little if both sides are playing it like poker
