Acting like a toddler? Saying something he shouldn't have?

You slavishly slobber over Obama - again, a person you know absolutely nothing about as you've read nothing about him - and yet he once described his bowling as being suitable for the 'special olympics'.

Happens all the time. You've got Johnson (a man recognised within the FO as actually being pretty good) calling the lady who was nearly US President like 'a sadistic nurse'. These things get said.

But then, you'd know that, if you'd bother to look it up and not piggyback on other people's posts.

Read nothing on Obama... I did quite nicely on the American Politics module at A-Level.

Is it a good approach to label people you have to negotiate as like that? If you take over a business and have to renegotiate a trading arrangement, do you publically accuse your supplier of being a tit?

How can you ignore Verhofstadt's stance on the EU or the UK. Why do you think Juncker picked him. What is this wrong message he is sending out. I'm surprised that Davis even bothered to meet with the jumped up wally. I'd have sent Farage just to wind him up. Verhofstadt will be overridden and edged out anyway if a sensible deal is to done. While he remains then it means we are still at the lose/lose stage.......

We can't pick who the EU chooses, and what they've done or said in the past. I'm no real fan of Verhofstadt as I'm no real fan of any politician holding "extreme" views.

However we can pick and choose those that will lead our negotiations, and the PM can surely influence behaviour and approach. Davies has always been full of bluster in my opinion and a total lightweight on the international stage.

His performance at the Select committee yesterday was appalling, the total opposite to the approach required.

What does his nationality, and the size of his nation have to do with his suitability?

Is that a serious question.....a better question might have been what experience does he have of negotiating....has he ever been used by the EU in the past for such purposes, has he been involved leading the trade deals....my guess is no. So why is he now being used when that is not his normal role within the EU.....he is their Farage and we should treat him in exactly the same way that the Eu would respond if we used Farage to head up negotiations....with contempt.....

You don't think bringing it up in an online discussion to suggest a Belgian official should pipe down and know their place isn't hugely cheapening their memory?

He brought it up, I believe, to emphasise how the UK has assisted the countries right across Europe and would no doubt be relied upon, more so than Belgium or Luxembourg, in any future event, and it does deserve some recognition and respect......

I'm questioning why you brought his nationality and size of nation into the debate. It's irrelevant.

Only because you cut and pasted my post......

"He looks and behaves exactly what he is, a failed politician from a very small country, with grandiose ideas that require the use of other peoples money. I'm just glad that the Eu will be stuck with him......."

You've done a fairly lousy job of placing me on ignore, Joey![/QUote
The ignore alert does not work - anyway proves my point I stayed off this for a while to see who you would fall out with next lol
@orly is our next target I see, and hes making mincemeat of you sit back and I will enjoy lol
By the way did you not want to comment on the link ??
This Brexit thing I feel is now all hype how can May do a full 180 degree turn and say to the CBI it will have to be a soft Brexit to pacify the CBI when the EU may give no ground as we do not know as yet its all guesswork imo!
not my fault an alert pops up and you reply the ignore button does not work!

I've not targeted Orly, Joey. He's come in and started sharing his opinion on my posts, which is his right in a forum that's open.

RE the meeting, it may have gone well, there is a telling quote in there from Manfred Weber.

"We need to take into account the interests of 450 million European citizens... What we really expect are clear proposals.

"Today, in my talk with David Davis, unfortunately I haven't really heard anything new. I haven't really heard how the British government want to tackle Brexit or what Brexit really means."

Davis is a complete buffoon.

@Joey66 I had to put him on the @hktoffee mailing list Joey, the 'did well in an A level module once' comment triggered me a bit to be honest.

In response to the entirely unevidenced...
