Irrational hatred? All people want is control over their borders. You're in the minority.
Other than 27 countries, we have though.

Strange how easily it is to level this with: much of the Leave campaign spent ages telling us that we would stay in the Single Market if we voted out...

Let's be honest this rhetoric is coming from remain voters who would like us to stay in the EU.
Hardly. Even in this thread there is a distinct lack of unity between leave voters. Some want single market access, some want full control over immigration. Some want more people coming in, some want significantly fewer.
This sums up how clueless the people in charge of this are.
There's an arrogance which is mind blowing. We're treating the largest trading bloc in the world like they're children, and they're just looking at us bemused and urging us to get on with committing suicide if we're stupid enough to do it for no apparent reason.
If we eventually leave the EU freedom of movement will be controlled by a visa style system May has stated it's her preferred position on control of our borders!Says who?
Switzerland?
Norway?
I know?
What negotiations will they be then if that messsage is being sent pointless debates in saying we wan this we want that?
When the two finger sign is aledgedly all ready there?

So you are ok with lobbing circa £90B of trade receipts in the bin, to be able to check how many French, German, etc etc folk move freely into the UK?
And we already do - hence the irrational part of what I said.
The video was fine.

'This is neither hypocrisy nor a U-turn: EEA membership was always on the table for the Leave campaign.'
It's pure spin to pretend anything otherwise. The fact is that these politicians hid what they thought during the campaign to focus fully on peoples fears and urging a complete split. The reality of their politics were very different.
I'm embarrassed to be British at times.

All want that decision to be made by whichever government is elected.
I simply want to be a normal country
