Irrational hatred? All people want is control over their borders. You're in the minority.

And we already do - hence the irrational part of what I said.

The video was fine.

'This is neither hypocrisy nor a U-turn: EEA membership was always on the table for the Leave campaign.'

It's pure spin to pretend anything otherwise. The fact is that these politicians hid what they thought during the campaign to focus fully on peoples fears and urging a complete split. The reality of their politics were very different.

Hardly. Even in this thread there is a distinct lack of unity between leave voters. Some want single market access, some want full control over immigration. Some want more people coming in, some want significantly fewer.

All want that decision to be made by whichever government is elected.

This sums up how clueless the people in charge of this are.

There's an arrogance which is mind blowing. We're treating the largest trading bloc in the world like they're children, and they're just looking at us bemused and urging us to get on with committing suicide if we're stupid enough to do it for no apparent reason.

I'm embarrassed to be British at times.

What negotiations will they be then if that messsage is being sent pointless debates in saying we wan this we want that?
When the two finger sign is aledgedly all ready there?

Do you realise that the whole purpose of negotiations is for both sides to set out their goal, and then for a compromise to be reached?

Thank God you're not our negotiator.

I simply didn't want to leave the EU for no good actual reason.

The fact was that we already had in place a rule that if the EU tried another treaty change, we would have a referendum on membership to endorse it or tell it to sod off.

As it stood, we benefited massively from EU membership, so I simply saw no reason to leave. The referendum was a personal political gamble from an abject failure of a PM that backfired.

We've shot ourselves in the foot by leaving now. If we'd have waited for the next treaty proposal and left then, we'd have been able to do so with utter justification in all probability and been able to negotiate from a position of absolute strength. By leaving now, we've thrown every bit of leverage we had away, alongside probable long term prospects of prosperity.

All utterly stupid in my view.

We don't.

It shows.

So you are ok with lobbing circa £90B of trade receipts in the bin, to be able to check how many French, German, etc etc folk move freely into the UK?

I simply want to be a normal country. Like Australia or Canada or America.

It's not a one way Street. It's a negotiation on trade. Are the Germans really going to lose thousands of jobs in their automobile industry because the UK wants control of its borders?
