Totally agree. But they are there presently and they have a crucial role to play now.

If they were replaced with something far more accountable then I would be chuffed.

If it was replaced it should be on PPR, so it would be elected cross members hence holding the government of the day to task it would be pointless say if on election day the party who got in by first past the post, then controlled the lords { the upper house} also reducing them in numbers too !

For Gove it seems to be a case of getting out at whatever cost, which I must say I find hard to fathom.
